Another great cutter from Freud

This was the first flush cutter I bought so I can't compare apples to apples but like all Freud cutters it works well. I've used a number of other inexpensive routers, each with their own quirks and problems. This bit works perfectly and I had no problems with it. All of my Freud fragments were top notch.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Not as thick as other cutters

withstood the entire interior of the RV

I use this to cut the Wilsonart laminate on the edges of the plywood in a Sprinter that I have fitted to a RV. I've overdone it by laminating both sides of many panels. After about 6 large sheets, it shows signs of wear. I've learned to spray it with WD40 before and after each job because it weakens the contact adhesive I used on the laminate. If the bearing stops turning, you are burning the wood.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Safety

Exploded Bearing Best in Power Tool Parts & Accessories

I have used this bearing attachment for trimming door and window openings and when it worked together it worked very well, much better than my cheap version. This happened until the bearing exploded, rendering it virtually unusable. I could only find the outer shell of the camp point; the rest - ball bearings and the inner ring - is lost forever. I had expected a better result with Freud. Maybe I just got "lemon".

  • An Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Big and Bulky

Excellent finish!

look. . . I'm not the best carpenter in the world. I built a closet and ended up with about 1/8 inch less floor space. Not enough to convert, but the slight overhang of the roof and doors bothered the eye. So I ordered this and boom boom boom within about 30 seconds nobody was the wiser. I know this is not the intended purpose, but this worked for me. In the future, I'd be better off cutting plywood with a circular saw than trying to do it with a table saw! Anyway, this beat saved me!

Ease of use: Finish

I've never used a flush top but have made a curved top for a dresser and bed. After creating the shape, creating a smooth curve out of 3/4" thick maple plywood worked well. Bonus. I made two crib end panels out of two pieces of 1/4" laminated maple plywood about 7/16" thick .One was square;there was none.Decided to use the square endplate as a template;placed the non-square endplate on top of the square endplate;squeezed them together.Using the flushing nozzle I was able to level the non-square

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

A definite improvement over cheap offshore bits.

This tip is an evolution of cheap tips that cost the same as a multipack. The nozzle cuts well and the bearing turns well. Be sure to make good contact with the bearing as the bearing guard will cut into the jig. I subtracted an asterisk for chips in one of the carbide cutters. Looks like the tool fell off while packing. A small piece of hard metal is missing and a scratch on the whole case. I know it's not a high-end jet, but Freud is known to be better than these. Overall a great nozzle and…

Carbide Cuts Deeper Than Stock

This bit cuts Baltic Birch plywood cleanly with a smooth edge and no sticking. Carbide milling cutters protrude slightly beyond the bearing, however, so this cutter cuts deeper than the template I used to round the corners. This resulted in extra steps to clean up each corner before proceeding with rounding bits etc. Also, the aluminum template I used was damaged. Overcutting may be acceptable if you use a template to cut the entire piece (it will be slightly smaller but may be acceptable). I…

Precise and professionally made tool.

Well made tool with great cutting potential. I'm doing this for a special project and it's great when I need a 1:1 tree cut for my project. The stock is precision made and I can rely on getting an accurate cut with a jig or trimming the edge of the wane on my projects. Each router has a specific need. The item I received was a different model number, 42-10425 instead of 42-104, I was told the item received is the same. Both numbers represent the same tool, just a change in the numbering system,

Pros
  • Straight, spiral and trimmer attachments
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Doesn't last very long

The flush cutting tip didn't last very long, I used it to trim the edges of 3 boxes totaling 60-100 feet. During that time it worked really well initially, maybe 40-50 feet but by the 3rd box I clearly noticed that it was a flush cut but also added 2 separate crease lines where the chisel lost some metal. Thus, in 50 feet of use, he lost 2 small pieces of metal. I've also used a cheap 12 bit set that cost me $35 and they haven't been damaged for the same amount of use and they cost a lot less…
