Im amazed! It was definitely worth the money!

Tough, of course, considering current pricing; I paid $14,000 brand new on it five years ago. ;-) Different pros: An good navigator; I have been utilizing it for over 5 years, and during that time I have not experienced any freezes or other types of malfunctions. Additionally, the accuracy is adequate, and the functionality is adequate. Cons: If you score a lot of points, then it is not very convenient because you have to go through each number manually. Of course, you can score from aโ€ฆ

Absolutely useless product, not suitable for use.

The strange and wild policy of Garmin at a rather big price with lagging behind braked hardware and software is the deprivation of support for devices - map ates. Those. through several years of using the device you are told. that there will be no more ates! Here is an example for another model, just be aware that the GARMINcommpany states: "FREE regular map and traffic ates for the life of the device" link from of. site . And as a result, 3 years of ates are no longer and will not be! Normalโ€ฆ

Pros
  • None, after a month of torment and butting with the store and service center, and only after reaching the management managed to hand it over and return the money.
Cons
  • It shows that you randomly rush to the sides when you stand still. For comparison, I held a Garmin navigator of another model and there it clearly showed that you were standing. They spent more than a month in the service center and said this is the normal operation of the device ! Slows down. The screen is tiny. Big and heavy.

I bought recently, there was firmware 2.4 when satellites were found, the device turned off. registered on the site, ated the firmware to 2.8, everything began to function perfectly. maps are downloaded by simple copying either to internal memory or to a memory card, immediately downloaded a couple of maps, everything works fine. I also uploaded an aerial photograph, linked google earth, created a .kmz file and uploaded it along with the jpg to the custom map folder, everything works great. atโ€ฆ

Pros
  • raster support, excellent reception, well-readable screen in the sun, unlike a communicator, easy map loading, ergonomics.
Cons
  • low screen resolution.

Great screen!: Handheld GPS

I have a 76csx (it's dead) and the old software and custom settings are much better on older Garmins than newer Garmins. But still I love this GPS (not OS)! The screen is magical, colorful, crisp and the operating system is very fast. Very happy with my purchase! As a professional yacht captain and avid part-time fisherman, my PDAs wear out and are used on an almost daily basis. UPDATE: The unit died the same month the warranty ended! I've encountered this problem before with Garmin and now Iโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Appearance

I'm a pilot. I rely on Garmin avionics as some of the best, along with the King, in the air. So this Garmin 78 is, I have to say, the most embarrassing product Garmin has ever made. The built in database is something we might have been excited about in the early 1980s? This is the most primitive device I've seen since the Kaypro 64. I can't believe I can land on a Garmin plane from scratch, but on the water you have to ignore the idiotic "moving map" and scroll through multiple pages and matchโ€ฆ

Good Portable GPS: GPS, Finder and Accessories

I have a very old (10+) Garmin 76 but after a few too many falls or age it's having a hard time fixing GPS satellites. A friend I swim with often has a Garmin 78 model and since it's the only swim GPS I'm aware of, it was easy to keep my learning curve low. I'm disappointed with modern features like the USB port for charging and sharing. Data or Bluetooth is absent from the Garmin 78. Also, the maps are basic so the budget is about buying expensive Garmin maps for your activities and nickingโ€ฆ

Poor Garmin support

About five years ago I bought a Garmin GPSmap 78 and a Garmin BlueChart g2 from Revain. I've used it kayaking a few times and then put it in a box. I cleaned up my desk last month and decided to sell it but I couldn't get any fancy maps to show on the GPS. A few calls to Garmin tech support (getting someone online is a feat in itself) and they say there's nothing they can do. The microSD card is unreadable and will no longer be investigated or replaced. The new digital cards cost nearly $200โ€ฆ
