Garmin eTrex is the best in GPS, finders and accessories

I purchased a reconditioned Garmin eTrex handheld. I received it within the specified delivery time and in perfect condition. When I opened the package I thought it might be a mistake. The device that was delivered looked like new. There are no stains or scratches anywhere. Works and tested flawlessly when tested alongside my Cuda 250. I bought the PDA as a backup if I use another kayak or travel to another island. It took a bit of fiddling to figure out all the nuances. Even though the…

I love this shop! The best in GPS, finders and accessories

Just received mine and am very impressed with it. It's very easy to use (tip - download the manual from the Garmin website and read it while you wait for delivery - this one is newer and may say more than these instructions but it works the same way and you'll know , how to use it ). before he gets there). Its accuracy is greater than I expected. I can mark a waypoint and it will take me within 10ft of it, sometimes within 3ft. It's a lot more than I need, but it's nice to have this level of…

Perfect for ATV use!

I bought this device not knowing what to expect. Well, it exceeded my expectations in every way. First off, the one I just got has a newer version of the software. It has WAAS and software version 3.10 with a new screen which my friends with version 2.* don't have. I checked on this site and they don't offer this version for download, so it must be something that only new users offer. Well, anyway. I use this with a program called ExpertGPS which overlays my tracked footprints on an aerial map…

Great gadget for training; Take a map to navigate

Ideal for runners, not cyclists. I programmed a standard walking loop as "treadmill"; I just flipped through it once and saved it. Now when I wear it while running, it tells me how far I've come, how much I have to walk and how fast I'm running. It is also easy to carry in your hand. For cycling, this is a great tool to travel to new places. I just go online, find the latitude and longitude of the intersections I'm going to turn at, enter them into the etrex as "waypoints" and program the…

Penny Wise, Pound Stupid!

This device is a dime wise but you wouldn't have known it until you bought the device. I have an updated Garmin E-Trex Venture HC. This device I've had before requires a "unique" data port that requires a custom cable, which is $40 at Best Buy. If you lose it, you should get another one. So $84 plus $40 equals $124. The upgraded version is much better in signal reception etc. etc. see specifications. More satellites, better screen, everything. The data cable for the upgraded device is your…

Ideal device for occasional users; durable, reliable

I've been thinking about buying a GPS device for a long time, but I hesitated because of the price, size and durability. I wasn't looking for something complicated to use in a car; just something to keep track of your hikes. Longevity has been a big issue since I was 10 years old. Also, I couldn't justify spending a few hundred dollars on a fragile device. E-Trex was perfect for me. After reading other reviews of other GPS navigators failing after exposure to light rain or fog, I was concerned…

Perfect entry-level GPS

This is my first GPS that I bought solely for geocaching purposes - see geocaching dot com - and is recommended on this site as the cheapest GPS to take you to this new sport can participate in the object search placed by others by longitude and latitude. Well the device certainly works for that, although you have to either set the location of the waypoint manually and then change its latitude and longitude by manual input and I can obviously only find a SERIAL cable to connect it to the PC…

Great little workhorse

After using the eTrex for a few years I switched to a more capable unit from another manufacturer (probably because it was a Gold Box offering). But I couldn't stop using the good old eTrex! The people who designed it were really great. In contrast to other devices, it can be operated entirely with one hand, which is a great advantage in practical use; smaller package; it lies evenly on any flat surface and does not slip when that surface is slightly inclined; and it has poor visual display…
