Recommended Quality Timing Belt Kit

One of the most reliable timing belt manufacturers. This kit contains all the necessary high-quality components. When installing a timing belt kit, you don't need cheap, low-quality parts. These kits are a great value on Revain, going for over $100 at auto parts stores. Incidentally, this is exactly the type of kit recommended as an OEM alternative.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Sounds crappy to me

Wrong kit for my car. I called Ford to find out what month my car was manufactured. The 1999 Escort had a part number change mid-year. I even contacted Gates and called the Vins. number in your parts finder. I needed to speak to someone from Gates. I gave them my wine. number and they went to the Ford website and said my car was made in Mexico and that's why their computer gave me the wrong part. Sounds like BS to me. bottom line; If your top pulley is 60mm in diameter, order a new model kitโ€ฆ

GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT - Read before ordering this timing kit

GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT - My car was manufactured on 3/99. The pre/post 2/9/99 production guide between selecting Gates TCK294 and TCK294A is just a guide. This is not a fixed rule. I checked which sync kit I need using the Gates application guide on their website. The bottom line is, if you have questions, disassemble and inspect the timing idlers before ordering. If the upper idler pulley on your Zetec 2.0 is the same diameter as the lower idler pulley (next to the crankshaft) then you should

The kit worked for me

This kit worked for the most part on my 1998 ZX-2. One pulley didn't work, it was the top idler pulley. Tensioner and lower roller worked. The top tensioner in the kit had the wrong thread on the bolt and the bolt was a smaller diameter. I suspect the pulley could be reamed for my larger bolt, but I had timing issues and used an old top idler pulley. I believe the smaller lower idler pulley is the defective pulley, so no damage. Belt size and number of teeth are correct etc. As for the pulleyโ€ฆ

wrong part! on belts, hoses and pulleys

So I used the system to select the part I wanted and made sure it was the same part number as the manufacturer (Gates) had specified for my car. Engine ordered, received and removed for installation. After removing the other strap, I opened the packaging and compared them only to find that the new strap was about three inches longer. However, tensioners and tensioners are where the right parts are. I was forced to buy a belt from a local parts store and they sold me the same part number thisโ€ฆ

Gates kits work well

Replacing a timing belt can be quite a complex process. But with the right tools, a little patience, and some preparation, you can save tons of money by doing the job yourself. I have replaced all three of my child's timing belts, one in a Ford Focus, one in a Toyota Paseo and one in a Honda Civic, I have used Gates products and will give you time to ensure you are ordering the correct kit (not all Sites on the web are accurate when it comes to the correct kit number so check, check, checkโ€ฆ
