Toothed belt - toothed belt sets

Previously used for 103000 and now changed back to 209000. So you can say it's a good part and synthetic oil helps extend engine life.

Good quality best of belt

Installed as part of scheduled maintenance, holds up well after one year. No complaints here. I installed it myself, and most wouldn't recommend trying. I recommend it to those who know what they are doing.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

Good value Gates

The old car I had had a broken timing belt tensioner and all the valves were bent. I wanted to make sure that the car I have now has higher quality parts and that they are high quality parts that should last as long as I have this car.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Great for 2012 Chevy Cruze 1.8

Parts appear to be of good quality. Installed on Chevy Cruz 1.8 2012. I will update if the batch fails in the future. I worked from home, lots of good videos on youtube with step by step instructions. Be sure to get the cam locking tools, they cost less than $20 and are worth every penny.

Pros
  • Easy Setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

sticker shock? in belts, hoses and pulleys

The part number on the box and on the sticker are two different numbers. The one on the box was not the belt I ordered or the one I needed. The sticker that was attached to the box contained the correct part number and what was ordered. This decal did not become the correct part. It was time sensitive so it was a shame to return it. That meant three extra days without a car!

14,000 miles and no problems

Bought for my '12 Chevrolet Cruze. Installation was pretty easy, I would recommend getting a cheap timing lock tool kit. The tensioner was a little different, didn't have a hole for the fastening tool, so I drilled it out. 14,000 km driven without problems since installation. Anyone involved in this project should note that the water pump does not have to be removed to change the timing belt, as is the case with some other vehicles. Except for the tensioner, all parts were removed identically…

High quality set, so far so good.

So far so good on my 15 year old Cruze. I had to change the timing belt when the water pump seal started leaking. The original pump is still good but I decided to just buy this kit and replace everything. What I didn't know and don't want to know is that the kit includes new bolts for the idler, idler, and crank pulley. These are TTY bolts that need replacing and I tracked down the part numbers and ordered them from the dealer not knowing the kit came with them. It also comes with an assembly…

Water pump already out of order

I ordered these from Gates for my personal car as they have always been a hit at the workshops I have worked at. Unfortunately, less than a year has passed and the water pump is already leaking from the drain hole. I had to jump through hoops to find and contact support for warranty information. I received an email detailing how I can ship the faulty water pump across county at my own expense and then wait for another one to be shipped if they feel it is covered under their warranty ( which…
