Doesn't work - hand tool

I have TWO of these and they both have the same problem. They don't close completely. Every time I use them I remember they don't work and I have to use another clamp I have. They don't stop the flow. They suck, don't buy. I recommend the adjustable type so there is no play between the grooves.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Doesn't fit all

Pure garbage! suitable for power tools and hand tools

Let me start by saying that I am very fond of gear wrenches. However, if you buy this tool you're better off working with cars as it won't work with 1/4" ID small engine fuel lines, at least not on mine. The narrowest slot absolutely won't snap and thereby pinch the Fuel line not in. I even "sharpened" notch, to no avail. I expected more from a wrench.

Not suitable for many applications

As a car mechanic, I always try to save money on tools whenever possible. And for the most part, I love GEARWRENCH. I have many products there and am very satisfied. This isn't one of them. I work with small Japanese cars and the pliers still can't close the radiator hose. It matches the lines going to the heater core, but that's about it. This works well with small vacuum hoses and small coolant hoses, but not the full size ones. I do not recommend this for medium technique.

  • Hands free

They work pretty well but don't seem to have a finale.

I'm a construction mechanic and need them for radiator hoses for engine removal or other work. They work pretty well but they don't seem to have a last click, I need to stop the thread entirely. They will leak coolant if you don't keep them closed. They work well enough to pull out the hose and put a rubber cap on the hose to stop the leak. I jumped on them but I wouldn't recommend them. Sometimes you win by not buying truck tokens, but this time I lost. But hey, they're still cheap enough toโ€ฆ

It just doesn't hold the hose tight. It doesn't matter what you do.

I've been struggling as a professor for over 35 years. Never needed a hose clamp until recently. I bought these (2) good wrenches because I had previous experience with this brand and thought it was a one off thing anyway. I should have kept the packaging. Try as I might, I couldn't get a good handle on the 1" coolant line on the car I was servicing. It should clamp normally, but after a few minutes it started dripping, then it became this pincer that had completely slipped off. The first fewโ€ฆ

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Bad teaching

This tool seems fine. Didn't use it in real work. however, so I'll update when I do. Stiffer hoses are definitely not pinched. I tried clamping a 1/2 inch diameter "clear vinyl" manual vacuum hose and it still sucked in air, but this tool was not made for this purpose. The reason the hose wasn't sealed is because of the teeth/notches on the locking mechanism. He retreats to the next niche. The quality of the tool seems decent, unlike the Port Vice version of this tool. With this, the port cargo

Not tight enough for my needs

Intercooler pump replaced with MB CL600. To avoid draining the intercooler fluid (because it's a lot of work removing bubbles when draining and refilling), I used two of these clamps to (hopefully) clamp the 3/4" rubber inlet and seal outlet hoses. Pump. But when I loosened the clamps on the pump and removed the hoses, quite a bit of water ran out of both hoses. I've tightened the yokes as tight as I can, but as someone else said because they are ratchet they will always "back off" a little toโ€ฆ

Pros

  • Some difficulties

Terrible lock jamming and slipping

I'm a bit loyal to the serrated keys as a brand. Has been working as a mechanic for over 6 years, in the automotive industry as a car mechanic, as well as in various other sectors with trailers and construction machinery. I usually have to pinch off hoses to change fuel filters or pinch off vent hoses to expansion tanks to check pressure. When I first started working as a mechanic, I found that the gear wrench had the quality and price to be a good middle ground between low-end crappyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some minor things

Good grip not bad for the price

This came first in decent packaging that didn't require a chainsaw and a couple of razor blades to open which I think is always a plus. The grips have a decent textured rubber grip that feels good in hand. They can be used with hoses up to an inch, which is more than I'll ever need. Pros: The textured rubber grip feels comfortable in your hands once you really start gripping. help maintain a snug fit Rounded clamp end so hoses won't be damaged Easy to remove Cons: Everything is riveted soโ€ฆ

good tool. - Pliers

I ordered a 145 open end wrench and a Cal Van 16000. Both are very similar but have some differences. Gear Wrench also immediately looks more expensive. Not better, just more expensive. It has a rubber grip, is all black, etc. The gear wrench also opens by itself, but the Cal Van doesn't. You have to open it manually. Advantage of a gear wrench. The gear wrench makes more noise. The details at the end are parentheses, they are weaker. The Cal Van hardly rattles and appears to have tighterโ€ฆ
