I received a non-brand update even though I ordered and paid for a genuine GE brand. I tried other brands and didn't like them so I paid more to get the real GE brand. What a pain to get the filter and now have to go through the return process.

Do not buy this product. I bought two. I waited 6 months before trying the first filter until the last filter had to be replaced. I have confirmed from Revain that these are genuine GE filters. The filters were shipped in boxes marked "GE MWF" (see attached image). They have the GE logo on the box and a GE contact number on the box. The box looked the same as the filters I've previously bought from Home Depot, Lowes, and Pacific Sales, only cheaper. I installed the first filter on June 6, 2018.

Genuine GE MWF filters are $49.99 as of January 2019. The manufacturer requires a filter change every 6 months, or more frequently if you exceed a 300 gallon capacity. The filters are rated NSF 42 and NSF 53. The packaging states that the filter reduces drugs and lead; However, the filter is neither NSF 401 (Pharma) nor NSF 372 (Lead) certified.
