Love this new addition to my global collection

This is a great knife. Something between an ordinary cook and an oriental vegetable (I have both). I like the sharpness on this one. for poke. No, I'm not a professional chef, but I like working with good knives. And in my humble opinion they aren't much better than the Global. So sharp and the edge goes on and on. Buy yourself a sharpening stone and look up some manuals. Sharpen your own knives. Your life will never be the same again.

Price, Weight, Reliability

An ideal knife for those who prefer the razor sharp edge and slow cutting speed of a Japanese blade at a reasonable price. It requires planned attention/maintenance to keep the blade sharp, as well as a trained hand to use properly like most high-end blades. Luckily this is no diva and has great durability, edge retention and unlike carbon chef's knives can tarnish. If you cut a lot and want a great price then I highly recommend it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • too blunt

It's quickly becoming my go-to choice for most cutting jobs.

Global 7" 18cm Oriental Chef Knife, #G-4: Global really needs to update the name of this knife, as many US dealers have already done. However, it is an important addition to my growing global collection As a lone home user, I won't be chopping a roast or turkey. So this 7" knife will be the longest I'll need. It's quickly becoming my go-to tool for most chopping tasks. In any case, this is by far the best big one knife I've ever owned.

Be careful as they are razor sharp

I have accidentally cut myself washing this knife many times, but I still love using this Global Oriental chef's knife. it remained so even after intensive use in the last few weeks. I have a collection of iconic knives from various brands - some are more than five times the price - but at $70 I have a feeling you can't do better. It lies very comfortably in the hand and is also light as a feather - practical for long cuts. Personally I like it better than the Global G-2 chef's knife that I've…

Love love love - Chef's Knife

Now I understand why people are obsessed with Global knives. I've been a Wüsthof fan for a few years, but I'm not always 100% satisfied. This knife was available in the Amazon warehouse at a slight discount, so I took a chance and bought it. The box was damaged, but everything is fine with the knife. It's ridiculously sharp, so I was very careful at first. But i really like it. This is exactly how I always wanted my knife to be. It cuts so clean and is the perfect size for me. I always thought…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Something's wrong

Knives couldn't be better. I have a lot of Global knives and also some Japanese chef's knives. The latter require special care and there is a never-ending balance between patina and rust. When I moved a few years ago, I took my entire collection of knives with me and packed them in a shipping box. Do you want to guess which box went missing? Someone has an excellent collection of knives. Having lost a couple of Global knives in this incident, I'm collecting knives again in my kitchen and trying
