We built a pergola on a hill this summer and these things are a great way to make strong connections with large diameter wood. I still used some 1/2" screws where I needed them, but this is a quick way to install decking, etc.

The best screws I've ever bought. Use this to tie multiple beams together. Used the leftovers to repair a fence that also branched off the main post. Once those long screws got them back in place I went back to a more regular size and got the 6 inch screws back in use as they cost so much there's no point in wasting them.

For mounting a trailer board to a truck bed, these bolts are so superior to lag bolts that there is no comparison. We had to attach to a plastered wall and all that was required was a small 5/6" hole punched in the plaster which is much easier than a large 1/2" hole. These screws turn easily, cut their own threads and have so much gripping power that you have to be careful how fast/deep you turn them because they will crush your ledger.
