This material works wonders. If you have a soldering tip, just the tip. Dip it in this paste when it's hot and it melts a little, paste it leaving the tip, just the tip, shiny and done. Rub it in a handpiece cleaner right after and enjoy a few more hours of this handpiece.

I accidentally used lead free solder and ruined the tip so I couldn't solder with it anymore. I heated it, dipped it in this garbage and wiped it off. Now it shines like new. I have never used lead free solder again and have never needed this stuff.

I used to struggle to keep my tips shiny and conductive with wire brushes and wet sponges. This stuff, while a bit pricey for a VERY small jar, works right out of the box and works great every time. My observation is that my joints are lighter with better flow and visible adhesion. It maintains tip luster for three or four solders, and a quick wipe of the sponge lasts twice or triple that between repeated dips. I recently messed up my favorite Hakko tip by foolishly contaminating it with something (probably silicone) that resisted any attempt to clean and re-tin it so it would accept solder again.
