The volume is so good that you may not need subtitles.

Bought for my wife and with more available she doesn't need subtitles yet. I've read that the tone frequency can be tuned to those frequencies that the user can hear well, but this hasn't been done yet. I put the phone right in front of my wife's chair so she can answer quickly. When the phone rings it does so at the volume we use for the speaker so my wife can hear the phone ring if she has previously missed calls. In addition to ringing, the phone emits multiple bright beams of light into the

Great help for the hearing impaired.

This is their latest model, the CapTel 2499i and it is a well designed and built unit. Very easy to use with simple and well labeled function keys. We bought this for my wife who is only hearing impaired in one ear and she loves it. As the ad says, you need a high speed internet connection to work properly. We use a Wi-Fi connection that works well. It's a solid, well-built device with nothing flimsy about it. The 10 inch screen is great. Closed captioning is provided by the FCC for people with

Liked Amplification. It's twice as loud as my previous Amped phone. The features offered by the phone are diverse and cover many different functions. I am suspicious of giving out my personal information over the phone. I know the subtitle service is NOT hearing me. A few days ago there was an incident that still worries me. I used CapTel Phone 2400i to order the product. I had to provide my credit card number. The seller repeated the number to me. I didn't think it would happen. The subtitler…

I am very impressed with this item!

Very good phone. I didn't know the government had a program to pay for subtitles on this device. We had to register it in my mother's name and sign that she was deaf to the point that she needed this closed captioning device and agree that other people are not allowed to use the phone and by registering the Fed is paying for the closed captioning service. If it's not registered, it won't work. The aesthetics of this phone are very appealing. It's easy to set up and easy to use. Everything is…

Problematic connection to WLAN

I bought this phone for my elderly mother. She has two hearing aids and it got to the point where I stopped calling her because she couldn't hear anything. A simple phone is very good. Was surprised to learn that the subtitles were actually made by a human. Shows I didn't do any research. Subtitle response is a little slow, but once you get used to it, it's very comfortable and the phone promises to be a real game changer. The phone is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, but phone calls are…

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Negative impression

Anyone who is hard of hearing and hopes that this telephone with subtitles will enable normal phoning again will be bitterly disappointed. There is a significant delay between the interlocutor's speech and the display of subtitles on the phone screen. This latency isn't significantly reduced by a high-speed internet connection, and that's not surprising: the repeater operator is involved in subtitle recruitment, and this just can't be fast enough to be satisfactory. Anyone reading this has seen
