The first installation is perfect. Second Setup I casually plugged in the power on one side before unplugging the AT&T cable modem on the other side. Melting has occurred in the modem. Turned off immediately. the modem still works (fingers crossed). Haven't tried it yet, but I suspect you have to be very careful connecting the adapters to BOTH sides of the cable BEFORE using POE or face to face with magic smoke. Very important!

Not useful for RPi for powerline NICs

I bought this item without looking closely at the specs. I wanted to run it from a 5V or 12V power supply to power the RPi B2. The RPi had a POE splitter that converted the voltage to 5V. I used to use a POE ethernet switch with no problem. I added this but used a separate power supply that I could turn on and off separately. It turns out that the power signal goes through the ethernet cable and also through the power injector, so I couldn't turn on the power because the power from the ethernet

Works for my use to remotely power an ATT fiber optic transceiver.

I used this DC injector/receiver pair to power my ATT fiber to catX module that was installed in my underground. I just unplugged the power adapter (not good for a wet ground - and an extension cord - ugg) and plugged it in. Power is now served in my garage where I have a modest little network shelf. Now I can power everything from the UPS and it's very easy to reset/reboot everything as needed. My network speed was limited to 50 x 50 ATT and I find this set of DC baluns basically allows…

Adapter works but only at half-duplex speeds

Ideal for providing power over a standard Ethernet cable. 12V 1 amp power supply included. I used my own 12V 1.5A power supply and it works fine. Depending on how far you need to run the cable, you may need additional amperage to compensate for the power loss. The main downside is that the Ethernet ports in the adapters are only two pairs, so I'm only getting 100Mbps half-duplex. This equates to speeds in the 5-6 Mbps range. If your application doesn't require a lot of bandwidth, this shouldn't

    Easy installation in network products

I bought a new POE security camera that came without a power adapter. I had to either buy a new expensive ethernet switch with POE (Power over Ethernet) or order one and use that power supply and a way to remotely connect the camera to my non-POE from 50 feet away with a CAT 6 ethernet cable -Switch to power. Use the plug adapter next to a switch that has an outlet next to it, then use the other included adapter to unplug the other end near the camera and plug in the camera's power cord.
