Installation was easy and I've already noticed that I don't smell the dirty attic air being sucked into the recirculation vent every time the unit is turned on, so I know I've stopped that breaking point and hopefully we keep that House a little cooler as there is now practically no air coming through the attic.

Worth the price

I have installed 6 of these in my kids and I different homes. They are well constructed, quality zipper. Easy to install with a construction stapler. They are flexible enough to conform to the perimeter of the stair, but hold their shape well. I've been using it for over 10 years and have opened and closed many calls to AC and other services. Don't be fooled by the cheaper versions. Simply glamorized by bubble wrap, they quickly turn into a pile of junk in your attic.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Some flaws

Louisiana attic door: 93 F to 79 F surface temp

The name says it all. Set within days, outside temperatures in Louisiana top 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Previously, the surface temperature of the attic door was about 90-93 degrees. Now he's a little under 80. That's a huge difference. Easy installation, just don't forget a construction stapler and a couple of appropriately sized staples. I used 1/2 inch. I haven't painted over the edges yet, but that's my next step. I was pretty generous with the staples to make sure it sealed well enough.

Should be an attic tent!

This is one of the products I should have bought over 20 years ago. The hallway and back bedrooms always felt warm. Since I bought and set up this tent, we no longer feel the heat from the attic. I'm looking forward to feeling the difference this winter. I haven't tied it yet and I'm not sure I will. We have a lot of large Christmas items in the attic and I think it would be easier to move them out of the way to put things away than just putting them back in place. I know it works great for us…

Works perfectly! on gear

Works great! Costs money! I installed it very sloppily. I used silicone to seal everything between this and the wooden base before attaching it so there is now no chance of air getting in around the base. Incidentally, Lightning also works perfectly. It's amazing how much that matters. You used to be able to stand under the attic stairs in winter and feel the cold draft. no longer . without even touching the attic stairs, it gets cold. Especially now in summer. Pull down the ladder and you've…

These things come in many sizes

In all my 37 years I've never lived in a house that didn't have access to the attic through the garage. In this home, the front door is on the upper floor, just past our four bedrooms. One day I noticed the door gave way and I felt cold air coming from the attic into the hallway. So I had to do something. I think I first saw this in a SkyMall magazine. But Revain had the best price. That's why I ordered it. It's fairly easy to install - all you need is a heavy-duty construction stapler and some

A New England attic is a must!

We live in New England and experience all 4 seasons. It can get very hot in summer and very cold in winter. We have an attic staircase which is in one of the bedrooms which we recently converted into a children's room. Before remodeling the room, we always closed the door to this room in summer/winter because of the heat/cold we felt through the hood. We would also feel that it was drafty in winter. Also, this room had heat/air settings for one of the zones in our house, making it almost…

Great product on tarps & tie-downs

It was easy to install and very effective. We have a hood in one of the halls next to the duct inlet, through which you always feel cold air in winter or hot air in summer. Instantly restored with this easy to install device. Couldn't be happier. Reduced my next electric bill by twenty dollars with no other changes to the thermostat or anything. He's worth his money. UPDATE This is an excellent quality product. The quality was confirmed this summer. Despite the fact that I have spent more than…

Great product, pays off!

I have a 100 year old house and the attic is right above our thermostat. The entire hallway and wing of the house was 5-8 degrees colder than the rest of the house. In addition, the attic is right next to the cold air return for our stove. Until I closed the attic, the stove never stopped working, and besides, the temperature in the house kept dropping. The cold air recirculation basically pulled cold air out of the leaking attic door and the entire hallway stayed cold, so the thermostat never…
