The temperature has dropped a bit but still worth the price

Worn it for about a week. I use it for our leopard gecko in a 10 gallon tank. It fits perfectly and works very well. The temperature probe is off by a few degrees, but if you place it right in the middle of the pad (rather than between the glass), you'll get a fairly accurate reading.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Hard to say

Only heats up to the mid 70's

With and without a thermometer, the terrarium pad for our leopard gecko doesn't get hotter than the mid 70's even when the temperature is set to 100. I bought a 40 watt infrared heater bulb to help and is placed over the cage; but that just leaves his skin terribly dry, regardless of the humidity. Back to finding a terrarium pad that works properly.

Inaccurate thermostat temp

I bought a temp gun when I got my snake along with this product. I made sure the thermometer gun was working properly. I set the thermostat to be at the bottom of my snake enclosure. The temperature will read 88-90 degrees, but the gun's confirmed operating temperature is 73-77. piece of trash. My snake vomited and is now sick due to this faulty product. I can't return it at the moment because I need to buy a replacement to keep my snake from dying. DO NOT BUY!

Do not buy! for reptiles and amphibians

Ratings that the pad is too weak are correct. Bought for a 20 gallon tank used for seed germination to maintain a constant 80 degree temperature and high humidity during winter. The large 24w mat is designed for a 50-60 gallon tank. Completely wrong! Keep my house at 70 degrees. With 2 gallons of water at the bottom of a 20 gallon tank and everything but the bottom covered in insulating foam, this permanent mat cannot heat the tank to 80 degrees. 78 or 79 max. The electronic controls are good…

Not recommended for heating mats

I bought this for my hermit crab tank. I have a 29g tank and thought that would be enough. I have the following problems: It doesn't heat up the tank enough even after working on it for a month. This can cause the temperature to drop too far before heating begins again. I will either have to buy a second heating mat or a whole new mat. My thermostat is set at 78⁰ which shows the tank at 82-83 on my hygrometer. When it finally gets to that temp just by me covering it and the tank it lets it drop

  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Nothing

Temporary reading versus actual reading is disabled. Trial and error

This warms up my snake's shell and keeps it at the right temperature AFTER some trial and error. I want her warm side to be around 85 so I set a thermostat for that. However, it was far away (according to my thermometer). So I set the max value to 108, and as a result, her warm side went up to about 88. Currently I've set it to 90, but actually it's about 83. If you got that, everything works fine. MAKE SURE you follow all the instructions correctly, ensure proper airflow etc and you will have…

Terrible glue! -- Update2

After 1 week, the adhesive on the heating pad came loose! Luke, we put glue on the bottom of our tank and no heat for our iguanas. The thermostat is easy to use, but I can't comment on its accuracy and functionality as our gasket doesn't stay in the tank long enough to appreciate it. Good that there is a 1-year guarantee. Waiting for the seller to contact us for a replacement and adhesive removal instructions **UPDATE** Up 2 stars Seller sent a new gasket and thermostat. Hopefully our original…

As advertised when used correctly (EDIT)

The thermostat is easy to install but I would not recommend a heating pad to anyone who needs a heating pad that is over 75 degrees. I have a daylight lamp and a heating pad to supplement the nighttime warmth, but in a warm tank the temp drops to almost 65 degrees (it's February in Pennsylvania and the room temperature is between 65 and 70 at night). I thought I would save money with the kit but I will spend more money to get a better lining that will keep you warm enough. I think this is a…

This will kill your pets!

I wish I could give this one negative star. I ran a wildlife hospital for 25 years using vintage Sunbeam human heating pads. Decided to upgrade for my dart frogs and geckos. Every ONE STAR rating was spot on! The temp was set at 76 but the pad went from 69 to 104, mostly staying at 69 no matter how I set the thermostat. After 3 days all the pads fell off due to the adhesive flaking off although never got wet and all instructions were followed. I replaced them with Ultratherm Uth pads from The…
