Hand tool quality fee

I bought a cheaper brand of this product. It broke after 6 months. The quality of the Irwin instruments is excellent. I have a vise that has worked great for over 40 years.

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Broken, poor quality control.

The movable lower jaw was so free that it did not half reach the upper jaw when closed. I've had dozens of vises, but the ones made in China aren't as good as the earlier versions. Sent back for a refund.

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Excellent pliers: Vise pliers and locking pliers

They are excellent for loosening screws with the head removed. These pliers are grooved to the end. I had other pliers from another company that didn't exist. That's why I had to buy these. But an excellent investment. This will take forever.

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • I am silent

The end twists when you pinch it

When I pinch the end of a screw etc. and then twist, the two jaws are too loose: they twist around each other and slip off. The jaws are at a good angle, when I try to get more of the propeller etc nothing grabs. To be honest I don't understand what this tool was designed for or why it was made the way it was.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Steroid Needle Nose Pliers

This is one of those tools you didn't know you needed until you got it! I bought it to tighten bolts in 4x4 anchor posts that were too tight for other wrenches to reach. The tool did a good job with it, but now I use it for all sorts of things, like twisting thick wire or holding fasteners in tight spots that regular pliers can't reach. The construction is heavy. Most likely a tool for life! . .

Feels cheap, lower quality than older product

Cheaply made and looks like junk. Not the same quality as before. I read reviews saying the same thing before buying, but I couldn't imagine the quality could be that low. I replace one that is quite old and even covered in old grease, the older one feels much higher quality. The fact that they charge prices that indicate they are made in America is enough to make me decide never to buy anything from this company again.

Pros
  • Vise and locking pliers
Cons
  • I will add later

Made in China not USA

This product is advertised as being made in the USA and was the main reason for my purchase. The tool feels good but I feel that the Chinese metal it is made from is much less durable than the quality of the US made tools. I have the feeling that the teeth in the jaws round and fail much more quickly due to the softer metal, rendering the tool useless in a couple of years. If you only need it for a few uses, it should be fine. If you use it regularly then I would try to find something better…

Pros
  • Tools and Housewares
Cons
  • Safety
