Excellent for steel Suitable for industrial drills

Excellent for steel. I've spent a decent amount of money on other step drill bits including Milwaukee Impact, HF Titanium, Klein Black Oxide, etc. I use them to drill steel up to 3/16" thick. They cut quickly with a hand drill with minimal oil (horizontal position) and do so without blunting for now. I wish I'd bought them in the first place.

Pros
  • Industrial drill
Cons
  • Without instructions

Excellent step bits. - Cutting Tools

The quality I have come to expect from Irwin. I've been able to drill to 1 and 3/8 inch, I can definitely go further. I only needed it to fulfill the customers' request. I suggest using a good cutting oil to protect your investment. I cut 1/8" mild steel. I've found that Irwin has never failed me when it comes to the mechanics need for good beats.

Pros
  • Step Drill
Cons

Great for fiberglass

I'm doing a fiberglass car project and these things leave a much nicer edge than my regular Pilot Point bit sets. And even on unmasked gelcoat, it leaves minimal cracks. (Although I would still recommend using masking tape and cutting in the direction of the gelcoat). I like the right one which has long steps - it helps get nice straight holes even through a fairly thick piece of fiberglass. The only minor thing, I wish there was more choice of sizes. The largest, if I remember correctly, is…

Pros
  • Industry and science
Cons
  • There are new competitors
