I love this product so much I bought it twice! The included mounting hardware isn't very safe to take apart, so you'll need to visit a hardware store. The last one I bought rattled when riding on forest trails, so I highly recommend using Loctite when installing.

The lock seems fine, unfortunately doesn't fit ARE Caps. The handle on this one is sturdier than my ARE cover, but unfortunately the actual screw holes are on the outside of this handle (while the handle bolts to the inside of the cover). If anyone has any questions, I'm happy to answer. answer them, but that's not the lock I'm going to use.

I rarely write reviews but do when I have to. This lock is the cheapest junk you can buy. A few minutes after installation, the key broke off in the lock. Why ? - because the cylinder is cheap and does not turn when a cheap key is inserted. This pen is probably made for $1 or $2 at best, and even at that price I would steer clear of it. Trust me - you have been warned. Please save yourself the hassle (and hassle) and go to another manufacturer. Much luck.

This grip was perfect for my late 90's dome. It rotates 90 degrees clockwise to open and counterclockwise to close horizontally. You can lock it in any position. Mounting holes are 1-1/2" apart on center. I used rivets to attach it so it would be more difficult for someone trying to "penetrate" it to remove. The inner shaft is hair ( literally thin hair) under 5/16" square. The inner shaft was longer than originally in the dome, but I was able to cut it down to size. Sorry for the messy…

The overall quality of the handle is excellent, better than the one I replaced on my ARE truck. The lock cylinder isn't the best, though, as you have to wiggle the key a bit to get it past the lock's toggle switches. My tailgate also has a lock but a tiny spring loaded door lock cylinder just like the OEM external lock cylinder on every vehicle. That's probably what I should be looking for, but I doubt any T-handle out there has it. I'll try some graphite grease to make the lock barrel…

I don't open and close my motorhome too often so I can't vouch for the quality despite having this product installed for two months. works in a situation of intensive use. Installation was easy, only issue I had was the screws were too long and interfering with the locking mechanism, easy to fix with a hacksaw.
