Best way to join the chain

Bought these instead of an overpriced non bike shop Campy chain mechanic tool to install my new Campy chain. I can't in any way justify buying a Campy chain tool ($120) to install the chain on my new drivetrain, so these links are a great alternative. I love campy but the price of the chain tool was too high.

Complicated installation.

I've used these recently with two Campy 10 speed super narrow chains. They worked perfectly, but they were REALLY difficult to set up. After a lot of sweat and effort I managed to get them on, then I had to put the bikes on the ground, apply the brakes and pedal to get them in the right position. I've used Connex links in the past, which have been very basic.

Much easier to assemble than suspension links from other manufacturers.

I've tried to save money and use cheaper 3rd party masterlinks but 100% of the time I've thrown away those links and bitten the bullet when installing KMC links. They're just WAAAAAAA easier to install. I don't know what it is, but I've literally had no problem installing a KMC link every time, while I always struggle with my unbranded, albeit cheaper, links. Moral of the story: Spend a little more and get KMK links. Definitely worth it in terms of time and stress.

Works very well - gear components

Mounts to Campagnolo 10 speed 5.9mm chain. Will not work with old 6.1mm chains. Newer 5.9mm chains are called "Ultra Narrow". On this chain it is easy to install and works great. Much easier than using the pin that comes with a new chain. I suggest using the quick link builder tool available from Revain for around $10. Worth the money as installation is easy. Make sure you get one that installs and removes quick links. I will never go back to pins, these links are a much better way to attach a…

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

These links are faulty and poorly made

If your links come in a box like the one pictured above, return them NOW! You can't hang her on a chain, why? Well, in photo 2 you can see that I had to push the pin in. It was misaligned by 0.003 inches! Also, there are no chamfers on the leading edges of the links compared to previous production. These links are inferior to expensive KMC chains. I hope these buggy things don't leave drivers stuck in the middle of nowhere, especially if you need an arbor press with special tools to get the job

Pros
  • Value for money
Cons
  • Security

Such a handy little gizmo

I just used one of these on a Campy Super Record 10 speed chain that I sold for next to nothing. I also bought some KMC pliers - one for assembly and one for disassembly - for the missing link. I just found an unexpanded pin that was used to build an old chain on my road bike with a Campy Chorus (it was a 10 speed Centaur chain) and used a standard chain breaking tool to pry it out . I then placed this chain back to back with the new chain next to it on my workbench and calculated how many…
