If you want to use this lock with a Smart Lock that turns the deadbolt automatically, uncheck this option. Unfortunately, the mechanism requires both the front and back to be installed or it will not work. I believe this is a security feature of the lock to prevent picking, but that doesn't work with smart locks.

Doesn't work with August lock. This lock has a certain difference from any other lock. I bought this before the August lock and didn't install it until I got the August lock. The August lock is almost $300 with everything, so I bought bits and pieces of my new door lock system. The 30-day return policy has expired, so now I don't have $50 left.

This is a good idea and a reliable product. However, I had a problem with 4 of these locks when installing a new key. In some situations the lock won't lock and will lock where no key will work. I'm now stuck with 4 locks that don't work. I bought 8 of these. 4 of them work fine. But I'm not happy that I have 4 useless locks that even locksmiths can't reset.

I bought this for its modern design, Kwiksets quality and smart key feature. After removing my old deadbolt and attempting to install this, I discovered that they had REDESIGNED this lock. It works differently than other locks, which prevents it from being used with August's Smart Lock. Unfortunately this was the only reason for my purchase, so my lock, fully opened, partially installed and then removed, will sit in the box and never be used. I would like it with a disclaimer.

My husband insists on using kwikset locks so we can easily change everything to the same key with one smart key.
