Perfect for garage doors leading into the house

I bought this Kwikset keyless electronic cam lock to replace the Ultraloq BT. I am back. Kwikset Lock worked as advertised, as it should. Nice looking castle. Used it for the garage door leading to the house. Ease of installation. The lock is not controlled by the application. However, it can be configured as an automatic lock or passed via the keyboard, which will be highlighted when entering the code.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Could have been 4 stars BUT.

I would be very happy and give 4 stars BUT - see photo:1. The external set screw is at the top, not the bottom. If it were possible to rotate it 180 degrees, the keyway would be reversed.2. Handles had to be mounted upside down (see photo).3. external and internal set screws in two different sizes.4. no allen wrench for external set screw - I had to use my own. I like the unit so I'm ordering again to see if these issues match.

This lock broke just 3 weeks after installation.

It cost me $200 to have a locksmith bring me to my house when this lock failed. Just 3 weeks after installation, the engagement mechanism failed. This means that neither the keyboard nor the button worked. The locksmith said he was talking. When I asked if it was our repairman's fault that it wasn't tightened enough, the locksmith said the part was not tightened at the factory. He wasn't a fan of Kwikset. So my "cheap" lock is now costing me over $250! BEWARE! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY!

Good but could be much better

We have used the Halifax range of handles elsewhere and I have used the Kwikset electronic bolt and have been very happy with it. I thought it would be easy to join these two, but it's not. never mind but this product got C marks for interface development! You can't program very many access codes and it's completely useless in the dark. While my latch lights up the entire keyboard when a key is pressed, this one only lights up when a key is pressed. Absolutely useless. It works great and if…

Definitely worth the $$ spent.

Excellent digital lock. I needed one for my closed tailgate and it works like a charm. Installation was very easy. Just make sure you read the instructions before installing it and you shouldn't have any problems. The only problem I had (I had already planned this) was knowing my latch was too low and needed to be moved to a higher position. I think it said you need 6 inches from the center of the grip to the top of the keyboard. All I did was take some metal and make a plate to cover the hole…

Ideal for indoor garage doors

I bought this product to replace the key handle on my indoor garage door. I've installed keyless products on other doors in my house (Schlege keyless deadbolts and Kwikset keyless motorized deadbolts) but this is the first product of this type I've used. Installation was very easy and the steel door entrance was perfect. This product also looks very nice and has a rather thin profile. Programming according to the instructions was very easy and took less than 30 seconds. I really like how you…

Easy to install - convenient to use

So far so good. We installed this on our front door from the garage a few weeks ago. We do NOT have a latch so I can't say how or if it installs if you have one. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. The first step is to ensure that the dimensions of the door are compatible with the lock. We had that and everything went smoothly with the installation. The only complaint I can make about the installation is that the small installation screw (optional) that prevents the lock from…

This is a great addition to your home.

My mother-in-law's car was recently stolen from her garage. She's from the generation that grew up thinking that you don't have to lock your front door when you go out (yes, I know, but you're trying to change an octogenarian's mind). She left the garage open and the smart key in the car! Well, she borrowed my car until the insurance company paid her rent and she rented another new car. While we waited for all of this, I checked the security of her home and made a list of the changes that…
