I am 99% sure I received Legacy struts and not Legacy Outback struts. Almost everything is the same, but the distance from the lower mounting bolt to the lower spring seat is shorter on the Legacy than on my 2004 Leg Outback by about the same distance. This was an exact OEM replacement for the rear shock on my 2000 Subaru Outback. The factory original KYB shocks that I removed have done nearly 200,000 miles and lost most of their damping ability. Like many other reviewers here I bought these for my 2005 Subaru Outback. They definitely have higher damping than stock shocks. Although they are much stiffer than stockers, I wouldn't describe the handling as harsh, just very controlled and serious.
