Great gravel filter system for my daughter's beta. Used in a 1.5 gallon tank. Many have reported cloudy or gray water. This type of filter must be flushed thoroughly before adding it to the system, otherwise it will. All new items should be flushed before adding to the aquarium. The only reason I gave this 3 stars and not 1 is because I bought some activated carbon after numerous filter changes, the water in the aquarium turned gray (although really dark gray, sometimes you couldn't see the fish). I've read other reviews. One said it was good for gallon cans. maybe, but the glass I had in mind had a hole that was too small. Don't buy this and think you're saving money.
