If you have a fork, as shown in the photo, a damper.

Not as shown. If you have a fork like the one shown in the photo, the damper will be missing the part that goes into the steering column. It comes with a rectangular bracket that attaches to a road bike fork, but there's no hardware to mount it to a suspension fork.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

beware plastic parts

this should work at least for a while the plastic parts make me a little nervous it works to a point and with a front pocket it just does it to be useful and prevent having the handlebars rotate all the way should help keep the handlebars straight while riding and I don't have to struggle with the bike to keep it straight. Plastic parts need to be replaced.

Pros
  • delivery was very quick
Cons
  • hard to tell

A steel frame bike needs a stronger spring

Pretty easy to assemble. When I bought this I knew I would have to upgrade the nib. My local hardware store had the right size and style for $1.80 so no big deal. My 1998 Dynacraft Magna Mtn Tamer 26 now has much easier and stress free parking. With the stronger spring, the rest position is still about 5 degrees off center, but I can live with that.

Not strong enough

It definitely helped keep my handlebars from kicking back due to my new fork basket, but still not strong enough to keep them straight. I have a heavy commuter with panniers, tripod stand and front bag and the bike became too heavy for its original footpegs and the wheel kept spinning. It helps a little, but the spring isn't strong enough to keep the wheel straight when parked. He still wants to fall on his side. The spring can be replaced with something from a hardware store.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Works well, Clevis Bolt not included

Appears to work well. Mounting the clamp on my bike's down tube was a little tricky just because my frame doesn't use round tubes. They're more of a D-shape. Also, NO bolt that goes through the fork crown is included. This is the hole that the front fender attaches to. If your bike has fenders, the bolt is probably already there. My bike currently has no fenders or studs and the hole is unthreaded. So I had to run to the hardware store to get a long enough bolt (I think I used M6x50), 2…

Great for my road bike, but why not an M5 bolt?

I'm definitely concerned about this after reading the reviews but it seems to work great for my CAAD13 road bike. Of course, this is not a full-fledged touring bike. There are plastic parts, but all live parts are metal. My main complaint is that it doesn't have a bike mount screw. This was an easy fix for me as my spare wheel had a bottle cage that I didn't need so I used an M5 bolt from that to attach it to the fender mount on my CAAD. They should actually include an M5 bolt as I believe most

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Need modding - here's what you can do to make it really work!

I have a large 26" beach cruiser with wide handlebars and fat Kenda tires that aren't good enough to keep it straight. He needs a stronger spring. So I added one. Then the strap began to stretch. So I went to the hardware store, bought black paint and a hose clamp, cut the tape to the exact size to wrap under the clamp, painted the clamp, and then lined it up with the through gap. This allowed me to shorten the travel to a normal level as shown in the picture and prevent my front wheel from…
