A pleasure to use this knife

I am a retired chef with severe arthritis in my hands. I love this knife because it's SO SHARP! It's lightweight, which is why I like it, and it seems able to quickly deal with whatever I've got. I started Mac Knives 40 years ago and I'm still a fan to this day.

I love love love this knife!

Highly recommended as it cuts like a dream. Be very careful when washing, a sharp blade may hurt you. This knife is recommended by chefs and will retain its sharpness for many years. It is used daily and I would even like to get a second one to replace my other more boring chef's knives.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Long wait

Great value for an everyday kitchen knife!

Excellent, sharp, well-balanced chef's knife! IF you need a chef's knife, this is it. I keep some 8 inch knives in my drawer, this seems to be the one I use for most food prep. Razor sharp out of the box, it will retain its sharpness over time with a little care and slicing/dicing. with serenity.

Pros
  • Fits many
Cons
  • Very expensive

Gentle but fierce!

Wow! The first thing I did was cut a piece of paper with this pup! That's great. I bought this as a gift for my brother, make sure to buy from a certified reseller. You are on the Mac site! For the purpose of giving, make sure the gifted person is aware of the proper care they should take with them. It's sharp, the perfect height, absolutely stunning.

Pros
  • Hands-free mode
Cons
  • Alright

The edge of the knife is badly chipped from normal household use

This is a really great sharp knife but the sharp surface of the blade looks thin and brittle and the sharp edge of the blade came out with it rather large chips when slaughtering raw chicken. I've read the warranty and it doesn't cover chips coming out of the blade during use. A knife shouldn't fall apart with normal use and the warranty sucks in my opinion!

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Not sure

The sharpest, lightest and best balanced chef's knife.

First of all, I own high quality MAC kitchen knives and decided to upgrade the chef's knife to the cooking series. This is clearly progress. Knife. My daughter has a number of henckles that seem totally inadequate for MACS. They are heavier and much dumber (MACS uses an Asian 15-17 degree bevel. The Germans use a 20% bevel). Big difference.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Some shortcomings

Great knife worth every penny

I love my own knife so much I got it for my daughter for Christmas last year and she still mentions how much she loves it. It's lighter than some chef's knives but heavy enough to get the job done and I'm quite comfortable holding it. I use a heavier knife when I need to cut bones, but I use this for pretty much anything else that requires a chef's knife. I also bought a Mac Knife ceramic sharpening rod, but I'm too lazy to use it and this knife still stays sharp.

Pros
  • Handsome
Cons
  • Protection

I'm a chef in a busy restaurant. I have been using heavier German Henkels and Wüsthoffs knives for 20 years. I've read about Mac knives and all reviews have been positive. I couldn't believe it given the price, but I decided to grab one and see what the hype was about. All I can tell you is that this thing is as sharp as it gets. You can cut a ripe tomato without holding it in your hands. It's easy and a pleasure to use. I was actually looking forward to working just to use this thing. It's so…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Electrical outlet required

Recommended Wirecutter - a very good knife for a picky chef!

I bought this knife for my son who loves to cook and only buys the best. He only had one knife because it was the sharpest he had and it wasn't sharp. But with two children and a wife to support him, a quality knife was far off his priority list. I went online to Wirecutter which, in case you don't know, is a great guide to finding really good reviews on a lot of products. This knife was number 1, so I ordered it. It wasn't a disappointment. It arrived quickly, beautiful and VERY sharp. It also
