Description of MICHELIN Pilot Alpin 5 225/45 R18 95V winter

The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA5 studless winter tire is designed specifically for powerful high-speed vehicles. The Pilot Alpin PA5 model was developed taking into account the climatic features of Europe for a high level of safety and refined handling in high-speed traffic. The manufacturer claims the excellent grip of the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA5 tire on snow and reliable handling on asphalt surfaces. The new directional tread pattern with a large proportion of the negative profile, built from a variety of drainage channels, helps the tire to actively overcome snowy areas. Winter non-studded tire...

The quality exceeds all expectations, I recommend to buy.

I was worried that I was fooled by the choice, but I went from Hong Kong to Hong Kong. Everywhere it was confident and not slippery, the only 20 kilometers was pure ice and we had to slow down to 80, and at -29 it's awesome and at +14 and into porridge and snow and so on. Rubber just surprised with its versatility.

Pros
  • Silence, smoothness and grip on any porridge
Cons
  • There is no magic on bare ice

Market asked to leave a review. Ahem, with less than a month of using winter Velcro . Well, well, as requested and done . To evaluate wear resistance for less than a month, you have to manage. Some pros: Shumka, as always, at the Michelin level, still like handling in the absence of ice. The rest after a year or two of operation, otherwise - prophonation. A high place in the ranking of winter Velcro. With its cons: The market demanded an assessment of the goods after two weeks of use . Some…

Not everything is so bad, but there are disadvantages.

I really like the Michelin summer tires (Pilot Sport 3 and Pilot Super Sport). I like Pilot Alpin 5 winter tires, or rather, it is not a defective version. But. Lottery quality and lack of support (well, almost no) - makes me dissuade all my acquaintances and friends from choosing Michelin, which I'm sorry about.

Pros
  • The tires are good and meet the expectations that were when choosing winter tires. But this does NOT apply to defective tires! I now have the second set, which I bought in the same store where I bought the first one. The first set was purchased on 10/03/2022. The first set was crooked. Each of the 4 tires turned out to be crooked! And the curve is different! Accordingly, at speeds above 120 km / h, a very strong beating occurred. The wheels are even, the car is new (the mileage at the time of buying the tires was about 5,000 km). First I turned to a tire service, whose services I have been using for many years. They confirmed the curvature of all four tires. Then I turned to the tire shop where I bought it - blacktyres. Ru. They also confirmed the curvature of all four tires, expressing great surprise at the situation (Michelin after all). They offered to re-install the same rubber and balance it, at the same time changing the tires in places. It didn't bring any results. The beating began to be felt less, but already throughout the body. Having traveled about 1,000 km (Hong Kong - Hong Kong and back), I realized that you can’t live like that! I handed over the tires for a complaint and bought a second set of the same rubber (for the sake of principle and experience) in the same blacktyres. Ru store. By the way, already more expensive - the prices grew.
Cons
  • Quality. This is a lottery. The first set - all four tires of different curvature. Ride on these is not possible (and safe too). The second set is smooth, without any problems. Separately, it is worth mentioning the Michelin hotline. She is absolutely useless. I do not understand the meaning of the existence of the Michelin representative office in 2022. I addressed with a problem - all four tires are crooked. The seller admitted this, but said that he would first send the curved rubber for examination, and it would take a long time to wait. What should I do? The answer to the hotline was this: Take it to the store where you bought it, or to an accredited tire center on sh. Enthusiasts, then the tires will be sent for examination. We do not provide compensation, we do not have a replacement fund. Today is January 28, 2022, almost 3 months have passed since I submitted the first set of curved rubber for examination. And just yesterday, January 27, 2022, I received an email and SMS notification from Michelin that the claim was approved and the new tire would be shipped after the dealer provided a photo of the denatured tire. I turned to the store - but they tell me, no, communicate directly with Michelin, we have nothing to do with it. I called the hotline again, saying the complaint numbers: FT_TC132586, FT_TC132585, FT_TC132584, FT_TC132583. The girl told me that the complaints were approved, but further movement would only be after the dealer provided a photo of the denatured tire. Looking forward to further developments.

The item is of good quality, there is only one minor defect.

I recommend, but there are nuances Size 245/45/r18, tires 26 and 27 week 18, bought at the end of 2022. in the store r16. Spb. Ru. Now 2 wheels have been handed over under warranty - I'm waiting for an answer, and I'll hand over 2 more - they are also crooked ! despite the fact that I go city / highway on good roads ! For such a price, this is a huge minus, BUT the rubber itself WAS STILL SUPER 🔥🔥🔥, grip and comfort on all types of coverage: snow, sleet, water - SUPER, predictable on ice if…

Pros
  • Handling, does not notice rutting, excellent traction at any speed, everywhere (except for ice, but predictable on it), wear resistance: for 15 tkm (max mileage for the winter), the remainder is more than half.
Cons
  • Rubber curve with good tread remaining! All wheels to a greater or lesser extent, which is why - a strong vibration !

Overall good, but expected more.

Perhaps, knowing about these shortcomings, I would buy spikes. And maybe not)))) In general, the rules of rubber. On ice, you should always be more careful, on any rubber. Some pros: Not noisy, soft (softer than my summer Continental ContiSportContact 5). On snow porridge from -5 to 0, it starts and slows down perfectly. Holds up well in long turns on flyovers. But this is all in the conditions of a mild Hong Kong winter this year (so far there has been no normal winter). In the puddles I do…

I am delighted, the product is really worthy.

Rubber is not cheap, but more than fully justifies its cost! Naturally, one should not expect miracles from it on bare ice (it's always funny to read disappointed reviews about this), but for Velcro it is simply gorgeous! Its pros: The noise of tires is beyond praise! At first, it even seemed that it was quieter than summer. Course stability on slush is very pleasing, the car behaves very stably and predictably. Acceleration on packed snow is also very good for Velcro. With its cons: An…

The Audi a4 2.0 Quattro car, from the previous owner got a Chinese sailoon, not rubber, but one name, the car on it easily went into a skid, did not slow down, there were constant slippage during acceleration. Without waiting for the end of the season, I decided to change the tires, because. life is more expensive, the choice fell on Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. After the first trip, only positive emotions remained, the car became stable on the road, the braking distance on packed snow decreased…

Pros
  • Good handling
Cons
  • Price, but the cost of the dollar is to blame, not the manufacturer
