I do not cease to rejoice at the purchase, a very good deal!

When I have a Nikon 85mm f/1.8G portrait lens, I almost always use the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G on the Nikon D7000 because it's lighter, has better focal length, and produces a sharper image with less chromatic aberration. It focuses slower than the Nikon 50mm f/1.4D, but the image quality is definitely better on the G version. I usually shoot waist length portraits with this lens and after trying many portrait lenses I find it to be the best choice for crop systems for this purpose for the money…

Pros
  • Sharp, compact with good image quality. Low cost for such quality.
Cons
  • Focusing is slower than Nikon 50mm f/1.4D.

Great quality, did not expect at all for the price.

I bought it as the first glass for a full frame (D700). The lens pleased with the quality: the picture, all-weather capability, focusing speed, low weight and size - there were no analogues for the amount that it cost (lucky, I bought it at almost the purchase price). Quite often it smears, sometimes it seems even for no obvious reason on contrasting objects, and sometimes it pleases with a sharp shot "offhand". After using 85 1,4D and 85 1,8G, I was convinced that the halftone has a pleasant

Pros
  • -universal - sharp on the open -holds counter well - nice bokeh - light weight
Cons
  • -HA yes, but often depends on shooting conditions -pronounced barrel effect, if you shoot portraits close (but easily eliminated in the editor) - not always sure focus.

The goods are normal, money is not wasted!

Check for focus accuracy in the store! Different carcasses can have different results! My copy on the D60 was focused quite accurately in the head and waist portraits, and there was always front focus on full-length portraits. On the D7000, the same lens in the head and waist portraits produced back focus, and in the full-length portraits it “flyed” even further back, behind the subject. Cured on the D7000 by setting the focus correction to -20 (limit value). In general, if your hands grow…

Pros
  • I shot them only on cropped carcasses D60 and D7000. 1. Sharp even at f/1.4. If yours is not sharp, see where it is focused. The field of sharpness on an open hole is very narrow. 2. Good design: iron mount, there is a rubber edging between the lens and the camera body to protect it from dust and moisture, the body does not creak. 3. Possibility of focusing in manual and semi-automatic modes, i. E. after focusing autofocus, you can manually tweak the focus yourself. 4. Comes with a hood and a soft case. 5. The front frame of the lens does not rotate, it is convenient when using a polarizer. The only bad thing is that the lens block that provides focusing is not protected by anything: it can suck dust. Although I have a normal flight after 2 years of use. 6. Focusing is quiet. 7. Full frame, suitable for full frame cameras. 8. Can be used on smaller D40 and D60 carcasses where there is no screwdriver. 9. Minimal perspective distortion, no vignetting (on crop, I don’t presume to judge about the full frame). It is convenient to glue panoramas.
Cons
  • 1. Focusing speed. For a portrait, you don’t need to go faster, but he doesn’t have time for the children. While autofocus crawled, missed interesting shots. 2. Shoals with focus (front / back focus). 3. Focusing again: the lens cannot (!) focus on small free-standing objects (for example, a thin twig), especially when they are the same color as the background - a thin stem of a flower on a windowsill against the background of foliage outside the window. The whale lens did not know such problems at all. Therefore, focus on contrasting objects, or with your hands. It is very difficult to get into an open hole with your hands. 4. A little yellow. 5. On the bokeh and along the contour of light objects, it gives out large HA, especially on open holes. If the light is chosen correctly, this effect can be significantly reduced. 6. Drawing (subjectively). It's a matter of taste. In my opinion, the border between the area of the image that is in focus and the area of blur in head portraits is too rough. There is no such smooth "flow" as on Soviet lenses (on Tair-11, for example).

Just super, the product is made wonderfully, very satisfied.

The difference in image quality is visible to the naked eye, especially for beginner amateur photographers. Ideal for creative shooting and portraiture. Works great in low light and indoors. Good autofocus - fast and quiet. The accuracy is also good. Many complain about the plastic mount, but I got it with a metal mount - apparently it depends on the country of origin (Japan). If you are thinking whether it is worth taking it - do not think - DEFINITELY WORTH IT! Take it - you won't regret it!

Pros
  • A classic of the genre - color reproduction, sharpness and light sensitivity are amazing! Ideal for portrait photography. Excellent bokeh. The best choice for a beginner who decides to buy a second lens for more creative shots, and it's also very light. Everyone should have it in denomination!
Cons
  • Only in price. Although it is adequate, the difference from f1 / 8 twice is a little high.

Total disaster, the product definitely did not pass the quality test!!!

I am writing from personal experience. 50mm 1.4G AF-S + D3100 - terrible. The lens never focuses, it misses all the time. I took it to Nikon and asked to do the adjustment along with the camera. They said there were no problems with the lens, the camera did something in words. As a result, the photo session on the weekend was a complete failure. Unfortunately, the D3100 does not have autofocus adjustment, but nevertheless I am very disappointed. Money down the drain.

Pros
  • bokeh
Cons
  • Lens doesn't know what focus is

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product for me, no problems at all.

Do not believe about the horrors of the front-back focus! At the minimum focusing distance, the depth of field at f / 1.4 is very small, taking into account shutter speed, shutter speed, focus type, subject dynamics, etc. ! But the manufacturers of equipment, of course, also contributed - the accuracy of determining the distance to the subject is directly proportional to the cost of the carcass! Of course, the D5 will hit the target more accurately than the D3100). ! Try to give more light, use

Pros
  • Bokeh, love it. I combine the angle on the FF and the value of the open. Of course, not a frequent combination, but I don’t want to sell the lens - I like it)
Cons
  • At f / 1.4 soft, but this is not a drawback. all lenses at the maximum open have software (not soap, just software), focusing speed is not for reporting), vignette on the open - but I like it). Chromatics are found on the open, but everyone has them on the big open!

I am happy with everything, the product matches the description.

Not as fast and not as quiet as my 18-105 whale! There is a catastrophic lack of a stabilizer ! At a shutter speed of 1/60, it’s difficult to shoot, this is after my whale, where it was easy to shoot at 1/35. You need to learn how to shoot with this glass and you can get very tasty shots! By the way, today there was a glitch - auto focusing refused to work after working in manual mode - I took it off, put the lens in - everything worked . Then there were no glitches during the day.

Pros
  • Color rendition, high-quality construct (no backlashes, high-quality materials), pleasant bokeh. Excellent sharpness at apertures above 2.5., it’s better not to shoot less than f2 - it lathers.
Cons
  • Sometimes autofocus misses! Chromatic aberration is clearly visible. Price.

Very high quality product, it's not the first time I bought it.

I bought two lenses, one for the d60 and the other for the d7000. What is interesting is that on the d60 all instances were focused normally. On the d7000, all of these instances were in back focus. From which we can conclude that it is not the lenses but the camera that are probably to blame for the back and front focus. but everything was decided well, on the d7000 there is a focus correction in the menu. I really liked the spam lens, you can shoot in the dark with ISO 1600, no flash is…

Pros
  • - Good build quality - Reduced chromatic aberration compared to Nikon 50mm f/1.4D - Compared to Nikon 50mm f/1.4D, very quiet when focusing. Important when shooting video - Bokeh is beautiful - Sharp as it should be with fixes
Cons
  • - There are small XA on apertures 1.4-1.8

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A high-quality product, the price corresponds to the quality.

Bought this lens a week ago. I use it on a full frame D700. Bought for the soul. Shooting with this bundle is a great pleasure, light and sometimes not attracting unnecessary attention. The sharpness is amazing. In RAW, all matrix pixels are clearly drawn. Color rendition is excellent. I have something to compare with - I have 24-70 f / 2.8. I will say the following about slow autofocus: "This is a fixed lens, not a reportage lens, focusing speed is not as important here as its accuracy." They…

Pros
  • Aperture. Amazing sharpness at apertures from 2.8 to 8, and acceptable at all others. Adequate cost (a similar lens from Sigma is more expensive). The presence of a motor. Boke.
Cons
  • Relatively slow autofocus. Minor HA under certain shooting conditions. AND EVERYTHING!

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Overall good, but I expected more, there are disadvantages.

Actually, this lens was taken as a fast lens (for those who don’t know what a fast lens is, it’s an opportunity to open the aperture wide and take a high-quality photo in a shorter period of time, while reducing the iso value. What this gives is that there is no blurring in the pictures, you can without tripod to shoot calmly in poorly lit places, ideal for shooting indoors .) (and a little more help for those who don’t know - the lower the aperture value - for example, in this case f / 1.4…

Pros
  • luminosity. color reproduction
Cons
  • depth of field wide open + autofocus

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything in the purchase suits, a very necessary product.

Newbies, move on. If you don’t understand why you need such glass, then you don’t need to write reviews. I read here as one wrote that the aperture ratio is mediocre, because the picture is muddy! Yes, he has a depth of field of millimeters, so he called the blur zone soap. Just a poker face. There were 4 fifty dollars: 1.4d, 1.8d, 1.8g and this one. If you need sharpness, take 1.8g, if you need a picture, then this one is a must. Just a masterpiece. I have never done such a three-dimensional…

Pros
  • Picture. Color. Plastic. Contrast.
Cons
  • Yes, they are not. Well, maybe focus shifting is annoying when the focusing accuracy starts to shift when the aperture is closed, but this is a design feature of ANY optical device.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was surprised by the quality for this price.

For a long time I chose a replacement for whale glass 18-55, which did not satisfy in terms of sharpness. I settled on this model, which I did not like with a plastic construct, in the photo it looks like a real cheap thing. I went to the store, took it in my hands and all doubts disappeared. The plastic is very high quality and not easily soiled, the glass is assembled soundly.

Pros
  • 1) Fast 2) Sharp 3) Lightweight 4) Built-in motor (for models of carcasses without a screwdriver) 5) Semi-automatic M/A 6) Build Quality
Cons
  • 1) In my model, when focusing, a slight creaking of the motor is heard.

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm satisfied, the product is exactly as described.

Of course, not wide-angle, but these are more nit-picking, because after all 50mm. Again, I knew what I was buying, but it is worth noting the absence of a stub, of course, in most cases it will not be needed on it, but the fact remains that you will screw up 10 out of 500 photos precisely because of its absence. Works tight with depth. I worked very hard with the D3000, mutual understanding is seen on the D7000. Hood and case included. As a portrait photographer, it is gorgeous, especially…

Pros
  • Of course, aperture is the main advantage of this lens, as a result, you can forget about the flash, while the photos (IMHO) are much more interesting. Lightweight, which is also important. Gorgeous bokeh. Excellent color rendering.
Cons
  • AF is not tenacious and relatively slow, often misses, and its logic is completely inexplicable. I analyzed the photo after the fact on the laptop, it catches something completely different from what could be erroneously hooked. At the same time, neither front nor back focus is sick.

typical Planar fifty dollars, pleases with the picture at all apertures, very sharp starting somewhere from f / 2.2, stable result in most shooting conditions, the design is convenient when removing / putting on the carcass, do not hook the control and the front lens, if you wind the filter, then a very good option for shooting in rainy / foggy weather + a bayonet skirt will save you from water. autofocus speed is highly dependent on the camera, the older the faster

Pros
  • + small weight and size + constructive + convenient focus ring
Cons
  • -resolution at f/1.4

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The item is of good quality, there is only one minor defect.

The lens beats its money and nothing more. I took it because of aperture ratio and universal focal length. Now I would replace 50 mm with Zeiss instead. The worst thing about it is not even wild HA, but the fact that often in the open all the backlight turns into a white spot. 4 stars for price and availability, but for good, an honest C grade. Although, perhaps, just my copy is not the best

Pros
  • Price, aperture
Cons
  • Chromatitis is terribly and does not hold backlight

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I did not regret the purchase, everything is fine.

I have been using the lens for more than two years on the Nikon D7100 camera. In general, the lens is not bad, a fairly high-quality picture starting from aperture 2.8, but it is better to use 4.0-8.0, although the bokeh will no longer be the same as on a more open one. Small and vignetting with chromatic aberrations. Objectively, aperture 1.4 seems more like a marketing ploy than a real need. In fact, 50 mm 1.4G is in no way inferior to 50 mm 1.8G, and for a simple amateur photographer this is

Pros
  • The weight; accessibility for photographers / amateur photographers; sharpness and aperture ratio (with reservations, in the comments); diameter 58 mm - inexpensive filters (if used).
Cons
  • Price, compared to 1.8; plastic case; despite the aperture, f-1.4 is just an opportunity for show.
