Complete failure in my Prusa i3 MK3s

I was very hopeful after reading that the extruder used on a Prusa with a straight feed tube works best and might not just require a slight change in temperature and feed rate . I've tried many suggestions from the Prusa user group and some from the vendor. No consistency other than an insane jam in the extruder. I'll keep trying as time permits and if I ever succeed I'll report back. I've been typing on my Prus for two years and a Tevo with a Capricorn tube for a few more years. Today, if Iโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Yes, it can work well on a Bowden machine.

I use it on my FlyinBear Tornado 2 without a single problem, up to a 0.25mm nozzle. However, the printer was fitted with tight tolerance Capricorn Bowden tubes (800mm) and original Bondtech BMG extruders (this is a twin extruder machine). I prefer to print at 240ยฐC/60ยฐC and have never had clogs, jams etc. I mostly print at 40mm/s. These are functional parts (gaskets, bushings, feet, insulators, etc.) so I'm not worried. So stretch and appearance are a bit secondary, so I disabled retractionโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No power

Also works without a vacuum bag.

Bought this just to experiment. I quickly printed an ABS mount to convert my Ender 3 to direct drive (literally a 5 minute no-wiring conversion), zeroed the retract, 40mm speed and snapped it. Zero problems! At 100% fill it seems hard enough to make in-line skates, but with less fill it becomes more and more resilient. I was surprised when I pulled on it and just didn't break it. No, it doesn't come vacuum packed, and frankly, it doesn't have to be. I'm surprised other reviewers have complained

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
