Very useful in tight spaces.

Saved me a lot of time removing the side bracket on a VW GTI, perfect size with ratchet. If you follow each car manufacturer's torque specifications, you won't slow them down. I don't have a car that has anyone gone bolt nuts and it would be difficult for me to take them off to test for real strength, but they look promising. Definitely something to keep in your tool box too.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Frequency

which was good as the car was out of service and so were we.

When we replaced the timing chain tensioner on my son's 2009 VW GTI, we found that the triple square heads we had didn't fit in the space between the engine mount and the firewall. After a long research we decided on the 8-piece set OTC 5942 XZN "Super Short". Delivery was quick which was good as the car was out of service and we had limited time to fix it before he had to get back to work. We particularly like that they can be used with a sock wrench or a regular spanner, which comes in handy…

Very well done - heads and headsets

Need to replace the rear brake discs on my 2012 VW TDI sports car. I'm not sure who tightens these disc brake carrier bolts at the factory, but I've never worked so hard to remove two bolts from each side. On one occasion I used a floor jacket and a 3/8" pry bar to loosen one of those bolts so they were really tight from the factory. What's really amazing is how well done these tips are. Despite the effort that went into it, the floor jack bit did the trick. Each bit is machined with hex sides,

Pros
  • Fits me great
Cons
  • A few minor things

Honey, I can finally access a few things.

While I can't comment on the durability of this set yet, they are exactly what the doctor ordered. They can be used as a ratchet socket or with a wrench. Even the 16mm is only 25mm long. They're great for tight spaces, which Germans love to design. The only negative I could say is that the big ones (12, 14, and 16) weren't designed for tamper-resistant apps like most other sets of this size, but these apps aren't usually that sensitive to storage space, which is cool to begin with. Also, don't…

Great tools at a great price

This socket set is very well made and very durable, easy to clean and chrome free. Designed for use in tight spaces, these ultra-short sockets are shaped like an external hex so a socket or open-end wrench can be used alongside the socket for additional torque. I used mine with an electric impact wrench with a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter for a 12mm bit to loosen the flywheel bolts on the driveshaft of a Porsche 944 Turbo. Went like clockwork. The bit sits very firmly in the screw heads and does not slip

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • No performance

These versatile, compact and durable bits

These "super short" bits are an absolute must for any German car and where screw space is really limited. I originally purchased Capri Tools XZN triple square drive bits, but they were too big to fit in the few tight spots to remove the transmission on a 2009 VW. These bits can be driven in from the outside with a wrench or from the inside with a standard 3/8 inch ratchet. These tiny appendages also appear to be very durable; " to the OTC head to remove the very tight 18mm XZN bolt. OTC bits…

Worked GREAT replacing the wheel bearings on a 2007 Audi A6

I bought these for their versatility in terms of play. I use them in a ratchet wrench and it gives me the most space possible. On the other screw I used it with a ratchet extension. I love her! Unfortunately I lost one! ;(. Working late I left it stuck in a bolt head. I heard it firing god knows where during my test ride. Grrr. Work late. Wish I could just replace the size I lost! Recommend this! BTW, it was a car that was covered in salt and rust. The heads were very strong and I didn't feel…

Will not crack under pressure

These days there aren't many choices as to where a product comes from. When it comes to tools, the Taiwanese seem to have much higher quality standards. CV joints on VW are connected to the flange with bolts that require this tool. Either someone at the factory tightened them more than recommended, or 15 years of rust held them in place. Anyway, I turned one of these bits hard and the first loud click came from the screw, not the bit. I removed 6 very stubborn screws with no problems. They are…
