Heavy Duty OTC Construction Tool

Heavy duty construction that is great for removing the rear hub on a 2013 Explorer 4WD to replace the Alxe shortshaft seal. No problem with my Ingersoll Rand 600 foot air pistol. Pound. 1/2 inch forward or backward. Make sure the lock nut is properly adjusted.

Worked as advertised

Works as advertised. I put the puller on and tightened it as tight as I could with a 3/8 ratchet. Then I heated the hub with a flashlight. Not enough to get it red hot, but enough to expand the metal. Then I hit him a couple of times with a hammer and he "slapped" him. Make sure the hub nut is on several notches so the hub doesn't come loose when it comes loose. Good tool did the job.

I used this to tighten hubs on my Toyota Yaris. The hub's PCD is 4x100, the smallest you've ever seen, and it fits perfectly. The stock acorn nuts didn't reach the puller when I ran them over the studs, so I had to use wedge nuts with a deeper threaded hole to mount them onto the hub. I also used a 10 lb OTC slide hammer (7703) which pulled the hub out in about 5 hits. Simple, easy, worth the investment if you do a lot of car repairs.

BMW E39 Chassis, 5X120 bolt circle + 74.1mm bore

You can get this tool to work but a smaller version will work better. The holes are not machined enough to be used with the original bolts on the 5x120 hub. You will either need to use studs or if you have recently installed front wheel bearings on your BMW you can use BMW part number 31206779384 to get things going. Part #31206779384 has the same threads as the Original Equipment eyebolts and provides the length needed to tighten the tool evenly. Also, the tool doesn't sit flat on the 74.1mm…

I needed to replace the bearings on my 2007 Jeep Compass. These were original knuckles/bearings with 170,000 miles/14 years. I expected them to be difficult to remove from the CV axis splines. I also live in upstate New York where there is salt 3/4 of the year. This tool made it a cake! I removed the knuckles with a 1/2" ratchet - I didn't need a punch or demolition hammer! Saved me a lot of work

I have a Kia Sephia that had a broken CV joint. It overheated and caused the axle to jam in the hub. I've tried everything: getting lube in, hitting it with a hammer, using an air chisel, etc. I couldn't figure it out. Finally I decided to try this. A few long narrow nuts and about 10 minutes with my impact wrench (with lots of lube on the threads!) and the axle gave way and eventually popped out. He did what took me 3 days in 10 minutes.
