Description of OVERTURE Rock PLA Filament 1

Characteristics

The OVERTURE Rock PLA Filament 1, categorized under "3D Printing Supplies," boasts a unique and innovative feature set that sets it apart from conventional PLA filaments. With its cool rock-like appearance and rough surface resembling marble, this filament opens up new creative possibilities for users engaged in aesthetic creation, especially for statue-themed prints that require sharp and intricate details. Unlike standard PLA, this newly launched filament not only offers a matte rock visualization but also replicates the tactile sensation of real rock, providing an immersive experience for artists and creators. Its humanized design ensures ease of use, enabling smooth printing similar to regular PLA while enhancing the likelihood of achieving top-quality prints. However, it is essential to note that this filament is not intended for functional scenarios where robust physical properties are required.

Similar Products

While the OVERTURE Rock PLA Filament 1 stands out with its unique rock-like appearance and texture, several other 3D printing supplies cater to different aesthetic preferences and functional needs. PLA filaments with glossy finishes and a wide range of vibrant colors appeal to artists seeking to create visually striking prints. For those focused on functional designs requiring mechanical strength, ABS and PETG filaments remain popular choices. Additionally, specialty filaments like wood-infused PLA offer a natural and organic appearance, adding a touch of authenticity to artistic creations. Each of these alternative products comes with its own set of advantages, making it essential for users to select the filament that aligns best with their specific project requirements.

Problems Solved

The OVERTURE Rock PLA Filament 1 addresses a crucial problem faced by artists and creators engaged in 3D printing—how to achieve realistic rock and marble-like aesthetics in their prints. Traditional filaments lacked the ability to provide both the appearance and tactile feel of actual rock, limiting artists' ability to create captivating statues and sculptures. With this innovative filament, users can now bring their artistic visions to life with unparalleled accuracy and detail. The filament's matte rock visualization, combined with the rough surface texture, ensures that the prints exude authenticity and realism. Moreover, the ease of printing and excellent threshold overhang angle support artists in overcoming technical challenges, allowing them to focus on their creative process without being hindered by filament-related issues.

Important Parameters

When considering the OVERTURE Rock PLA Filament 1 for artistic projects, it is essential to be mindful of certain critical parameters. The filament's printing temperature, layer height, and print speed significantly impact the final outcome. Adjusting the printing temperature within the recommended range will ensure optimal layer adhesion and prevent issues like warping. Fine-tuning the layer height will influence the level of detail in the print, while adjusting the print speed can affect overall print quality. Additionally, users should be aware of the filament's limited suitability for functional applications that require robust physical properties. For such use cases, alternative filaments like PETG or ABS might be more appropriate choices.

Use in Various Applications

[Cool Rock-like PLA with Rock/Marble Rough Surface]--This newly launched filaments feature not just matte rock visualization, but also rock feel. Designed for aesthetic creation of statue themed prints, which can exhibit sharp details. Not suitable for functional scenario which needs very strong physical properties. [Easy to Print & More Humanized Design]-- Easy to print just like normal PLA, more likely to get quality prints. Excellent threshold overhang angle. Printing a raft is always recommended. Raft and support are very easy to remove. Reel with length/ weight gauge and viewing hole so that you can easily figure out the remaining filaments; more filaments clip holes for fixing purpose on the reel; Larger spool inner diameter design makes feeding smoother. [Odorless & No Bubble]-- Developed based on Natural PLA, this marble PLA filaments deliver excellent printing quality with no odor and low warpage during printing; Complete drying for 24 hours before vacuum packaging to effectively protect the filament from moisture, no stringing and bubble-free. [Dimensional Accuracy & Consistency]advanced CCD diameter measuring and self-adaptive control system in the manufacturing guarantee these PLA filaments of 1.75 mm diameter, Accuracy +/- 0.05 mm; 1 kg spool (2.2lbs). [Cost-effective and Wide Compatibility]-- With over 9 years’ 3D filaments R & D experience, thousands tons of filaments output every month, Overture is capable of manufacturing all kinds of filaments in large scale with premium quality, which contribute to Overture filament cost-effective and reliable for most common 3D printers, such as MK3, Ender 3, Monoprice FlashForge and more.

I bought 2 rolls to print a large (and 125%) cube tower with a large courtyard. I printed a temporary tower and bank from the first roll, even good prints, everything was amazing. (it was stone grey, if the amazon doesn't say so). I was interested in the negative reviews. Since it was a padlock-like thing and a gift, I figured why not at least try. I typed in a few little things, thinking I'd split up the work and I had a little more. Turns out I could probably print everything from the first…

Looks great, but working with it is not as easy as expected.

I'm no stranger to Overture Filaments; I use over a dozen kilos of their PLA a year because it's reliable and convenient, and have been using it mainly since mid-2019. That being said, I don't usually print for looks, mostly functional prints, and almost never buy specific colors to print. If color is important to me, I usually color the object anyway, so the color of the thread doesn't matter. However, this time I decided to try printing specifically for aesthetic reasons. When it works, it…

Don't waste your time or money. That is trash.

Print quality: One of the worst PLA filaments I have ever seen. Liability: Absolute crap! Tried several temporary and bed covers with an adhesion failure rate of 80% compared to 2-5% for Silk PLA. I've tried: Glass, Ultrabase, Masking Tape, Glue Stick Glass, PEI Coated Spring Steel Sheet, Creality Buildtac and as "why not TF" I've tried unheated bare glass. The best result of all was a masking band of around 75s. Too much effort for PLA.Warmthh? I really don't know what that means. where to…
