They are great for making a fast ethernet connection (100Mbps) over 75 ohm coax ( TV and radio) FM cable) . It wasn't the right device for my needs, but it ended up working great. You cannot connect by simply plugging a 5V DC power adapter into the micro USB port. I assume they also need a USB data connection if you want to use this method of powering devices. I think they use some kind of power saving protocol for communication if you power them via USB. This means that you need drivers for…

Great way to get ethernet over coax

Fantastic work. As some other reviewers and YouTube videos mention, it can take a few minutes (2-10 minutes seems random) to connect when the power is turned on or the coax is unplugged. Disabling ethernet doesn't seem to cause this problem. It's easy when you connect two cables through a coaxial line and connect one end to the router and the other to the device. I have structured cabling with multiple rooms equipped only with coax cable. I was able to get ethernet into these rooms through…

USB power only works with real USB hosts! Otherwise amazing value!

As others have said, USB power only works from any device that is a true USB host. also known as a type of computing device. I will never understand why this is so. Most people should get away with just buying the included power supply kit. If you really need USB power to work, take a look. I installed one of these under the ceiling and didn't want to tuck in another bulky PSU for no reason. It turns out that the Raspberry Pi is a very compact way to power the USB for these DECA adapters (since

If you're looking for an inexpensive, relatively easy-to-configure option for wired Internet access via coaxial cable just for surfing the Internet, check out this option. More difficult to install than PowerLine, but does not pass a signal like PowerLine. However, if you need throughput and latency comparable to CAT5e/CAT6, just use MoCA. My latency and failure rate suffered a lot with DECA (60Mbps DL and 50ms ping) compared to CAT6 (600Mbps DL and 10ms ping), while the much more expensive…

Works as described, alternative power supply.

I had an old powered USB 2.0 hub from circa 1973 that I haven't used in my collection of cables, chargers and other small computer junk for years. Plugging into a hub alone doesn't work, but when I plug the laptop into the hub, the adapter turns on and then stays on when I turn off the laptop. There has to be some kind of handshake to unlock the power button. The only downside I see with this is the power outages, but that means connecting an old router to the network via a home RF cable and…

Couldn't believe how easy it was.

Well, I've moved into a new apartment, the 3rd room should be my office. Also the farthest room from the home base of the modem. Also, this room is set up so that the line from the computer room I chose to the modem has about 6 walls and corners in between. I had about 20Mbps wifi with my 100Mbps internet. I don't use coax for cable TV in the 3rd room, but the apartment has it pre-installed throughout the apartment. It took me a little while to find my space wire but this product works just as…

Downloading via USB requires data transfer; 100Mbps/+3-5ms

Ordered 4 of these for $27, well worth it as it offers 100Mbps throughput with an extra 3-5ms ping. Caution: They will not boot until connected to a USB data host. . They don't boot with a regular USB power supply, you need to plug them into a USB host that will properly poll the device via the data pins. I recommend simulating a power failure once you've set it up, because if your USB host device requires an internet connection before downloading, the installation won't start again. I need to…

Ideal for wired internet access around the house

Very useful when trying to move wired internet access from one corner of the house to the other. Thanks to a network of (no kidding) coaxial cable reaching every room in the house. I identified the wire leading to my master bedroom which was the trickiest part. I brought an ethernet cable up to my attic and hooked it up to an identified cable with this wonderful little device. The other end was bright (in the master). For reference, I'm getting 75-100 Mbps over this connection. My desktop…
