Better than many other viewers I've tried over the years.

I love the 4x magnification and the way the slides glow. I also inherited cases and boxes from old slides from the 50's-80's. I was worried because they are so old but I can slide through them and so far the car has held up. I also like having the viewer at an angle so I don't have to hold it. It was easy to set up, just pop in the batteries and you're good to go.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some little things

Dead on Arrival: Door Viewer

I hope it's just a quality control issue but mine didn't arrive working. New batteries, inserted correctly, but nothing works. The lamp looked fine, but there was something wrong with the switch. Came back and replaced with the Panavue 2 viewer. Smaller (and probably darker) and cheaper and it worked great. The new viewer has a similar switch, but it doesn't connect to the battery compartment quite as well - maybe that's a better design.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Minor issues

Exactly what I needed!

I have a box of slides from the 1950's and 60's that my grandparents made. It was just perfect to be able to look at them. While the field of view is dusty, I can blow on it and it will obliterate what was there. The image is not as large as on the box, but it is enlarged more than the slide image. For a person viewing slides, this works great. The downside is that it doesn't have a feeder and isn't meant for heavy use or group transfer.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Functionality

Although the viewer works I don't think it's worth the price paid. The viewer is made of plastic and the lens has scratches and defects. The packaging from Revain was very good however the product packaging looked like it had been opened and I believe it could be something that was returned by someone else. After years of shopping at Revain this was the first time I have been disappointed with my purchase. The price was very high for what I got.

Easy to use good for equipment

I bought a Pana Vue slide projector to view the many slides my dad had. It was easy to use, the backlight really helped with the slideshow. The magnification was sufficient to be able to recognize people I knew well in the photos. I ended up returning pana -Vue because I decided there were too many slides to view one at a time. I ended up buying a slide projector off eBay for a pretty cheap price. I gave it five stars because I think it's a great little projector that you can only view one…

Pros
  • good construction
Cons
  • not reliable

Too expensive for what it is. I bought .

Expensive for what it is. I bought it to help with a slide sorting/playback project, but to be honest it's almost as bulky as a full size slide projector and the detail is extremely limited. The 4x magnification gives you a minimum of detail, not enough to really decide if an image is worth digitizing. As others have noted, the description image is misleading as the image doesn't appear on the display but on the back of the device - not surprising if you know how these viewers work, but worth…

Great slide viewer

Few people need this viewer in this digital age, but I have hundreds of slides from years ago that I wanted to scan. I needed a way to display slides from potential candidates in a small space and show them to my kids while I worked on them. My parents have owned the Pana-View for decades, so I bought it. Runs on a wall transformer or C-cell batteries which last a long time and show lots of detail so you can see dust or issues with every slide. This viewer shows one slide at a time in full…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
