Unique Tool

This centering vise is unique in its design and allows the user to quickly grip and balance irregular shapes. The wide jaw opening is also a useful feature, making it a great tool for DIYers and those of us who restore old electronics. I recommend purchasing a dedicated wide base for this instrument rather than using it in conjunction with other Panavise instruments.

PanaVice products are a good choice!

I have used these PanaVice products at work and at home for decades. Their simple design ensures a low failure rate and their size is ideal for PCB processing and small sheet metal finishing. They may be great for other jobs, but that's not what I use them for. Tablet holder for my car.

Better quality expected

A small piece of rubber that spins freely to keep things secure will probably break first, it bends fairly quickly. (First month of use) Not a big deal, actually it doesn't even deduct a star for me. What deducts 2 stars is the poor build quality. It is very rough when tightening and loosening. I sat there and worked on it for about an hour but it didn't do much, a little blur, a little help. Works for what I need but I was expecting better quality for the price. I think nothing really works…

For real? slotted screws?

This is exactly what I expected but it loses a star for overall value and cost because for something this good I expected the heads to be held on with hex bolts. No, slotted. For real? CUT. And even then they don't look rustproof. It's like putting cross-ply tires on a Porsche. God. Otherwise great vise. NOTE: During installation it was discovered that the slots were designed to accommodate a much larger screwdriver than required. And when did I go buy quality fasteners? Yes, not metric. So…

Not the best tool for small PCBs but still a great tool

I bought this (with stand, separately) to use mainly on my electronics workbench to hold circuit boards for soldering. I chose this one over the smaller one designed specifically for PCBs because I love the idea of holding boards of all sizes. However, I did find that the jaws wobbled a little, so straightening a smaller PCB can be difficult. But hey, maybe that's the nature of the beast and I have to have a smaller jaw for small PCBs, so I won't blame this one. Angle or position on the base…

Nice, albeit expensive.

Nice and solid workmanship, all metal construction (except for the shoes of course). I can hardly find many negative points. The only complaints are that the guide rods show some wear on the guides as there are no bearings, just a through hole. This will cause them to loosen somewhat over time and wear away the black oxide coating. The "crank" offset also appears to be a bit short, although this was probably done that way on purpose to limit the force applied to the screw. If it were twice the…

Extra Wide Bore Self-Centering Vise Head (Double Ended)

Great attachment for the PanaVise Series 300 base. I've added a heavy base and between two additional vises this vise will do most hobby work (or other light to medium ) cope ) article. The jaws are reversible, as are the rubber slide jaw covers. One side is ribbed and the other side is V-shaped for holes in vertical round objects. The reversible jaws allow the jaws to be fully closed and the maximum opening width possible. The crank adjustment is very smooth. (It's a delicate carving, so it…

Dangerously sharp edges - poor finish - not sure without modification

I've wanted this vise for a long time and finally decided it was time to replace my clamp 396 high quality product from PanaVise something that does the job properly is up and running smoothly. Unfortunately, I experienced exactly the opposite! I never thought that this expensive "Made in the USA" tool could have sharp edges and a poor finish. As I lifted the new vise to inspect it, I cut my finger on one of several burr spots—sharp edges on the underside left over from the casting process. The
