Description of Explore a World of Vibrant Artistry with Conté à Paris Pastel Pencils - 48 Assorted Colors

The exceptional diameter of the Conte a Paris pastel pencil (5 mm) lead gives genuine freedom of creation and has an unrivalled feel. The pastel is perfect pencil companion to soft pastel because its lead is slightly harder with less pigment. It is preferable to Conte soft pastels and crayons when details is required for small and medium sized formats.

Poor delivery of Conte pastel pencils

I love Conte a Paris pastel pencils. They're surprisingly easy to apply to sandpaper and the colors are vibrant. What I don't like is the fact that the pen box has been pushed back so far that the pens don't even fit in their little slots that are supposed to protect them. The pastel dots on four pencils are completely broken off. Shame or Conte? or shame on Revane?

fantastic pastel colours, useless packaging

Nice color scheme, holds up like butter if not broken. Returned the first set which arrived with 11 broken springs which I think happened with shipping. The replacement was only slightly better, only 7 broken pencils. I like them so much that I keep them, but they are very uneconomical. That certainly wouldn't have happened with this box either if the manufacturers had bothered to cover the box with a styrofoam film to keep the pens in place. I've never seen them so loaded. such a shame

  • fits many

  • too boring

Don't use this advert Your only pastel pencil

Same as M. Knight I have a (complete, not 24, I think 60 or so) set of Carbotello plus some Farbers and Caran d'ash but I wanted one larger color palette at an affordable price. They don't look like the pastels I have. they are like chalk, like chalk that just falls off the paper. The colors are brilliant but what a mess. I think they're great as fills when I need some extra color and for blending. I wouldn't count them as a plain pastel pencil. Those who have trouble sharpening really need to…

Arrived broken and cracked

I've been using this brand of pencils for a long time but I usually buy them locally. When I bought the set through the mail, they arrived with broken and chipped tips. After cleaning them and trying to sharpen them, I quickly found that most of them had broken cores. I know very well the problems of sharpening pastel pencils and have been using them for many years. The packaging of these pens is inferior, especially considering the price. They are packaged in a thin cardboard box with a very…

Great for artists starting with pastels!

Very nice and soft. I found their size a bit odd, definitely bigger than my other pastels. They're not super fade resistant, but that's to be expected for the price. The box they come in is a little flimsy and some of my pencils broke the tips but after sharpening them and storing them in a case they were fine! I wouldn't recommend them for SUPER fine detail, mainly because they're VERY soft, but for light touches of color here and there, they're fantastic!

Pros
  • Pastel colors
Cons
  • Very expensive

The color payoff and blending ability of these pens is great and I definitely prefer my Conte in pencil form as I feel it offers more control. My only issue with these pencils was that they were difficult to sharpen - I've tried different types of pencil sharpeners as well as a utility knife and found it very difficult to sharpen them to the right point without breaking them. It would be nice if a sharpener was included that could work better with them. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend…
