Description of Efficiently Remove Chainring Nuts with Park Tool CNW-2 Chainring Nut Wrench

The CNW-2 makes chainring bolt set installation and removal easy. It securely holds the slotted nut to prevent spinning when tightening or loosening the bolt. Double-ended to fit most slotted-type nuts, including the Campagnolo chainring nuts.

won't help you with REALLY stuck bolts

If you're buying this tool because a chainring bolt is stuck, consider getting a good drill bit instead. Otherwise it's a nice cheap little tool to have in your kit when changing sprockets.

Works exactly as intended

Works great as it's designed to hold the back of the torx sprocket nut or the hex wrench we used to tighten and loosen the bolt... only thing I can think of are the negative reviews Try using a tool to turn the sprocket nut instead of the bolt

Fits perfectly unlike Chinese copies sold at Revain

This item fits perfectly and is non-slip when used correctly. Too bad I don't waste my time with a previously ordered Chinese product; it was only $1.50 cheaper and didn't fit. Park Tool comes highly recommended for this precision tooling requirement. Thanks very much!

  • Ideal for a small home

does the job but looks cheap

I have a feeling it was made from a single piece of 20 gauge steel. I feel like I could do it myself. I didn't feel like it was a quality instrument. I find that the parking tools are well made and have a good reputation. They really work as intended and I think they should have been $5 instead of $10.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Too hard to hold and hold in the nut slots when turning the hex bolt.

Totally disappointed in this tool park, real shit, slips out of the nut. Very difficult to hold when turning the hex bolt. The protrusions on the tool are flat on the inside and have rounded edges on the smooth outside and cannot be gripped. Also thin metal and then a nut slot not strong enough to hold it. I like most park instruments, but that's NOT it!

Better than nothing

As always with Park Tool, you get what you pay for. What is unusual is that in this case it is a very cheap, weak and moderately effective tool. It doesn't feel comfortable or feel tight in the hand, and in my use it didn't fit snugly or hold in the sprocket nuts very securely. It was better than nothing, but I don't know how much better than a flathead screwdriver since I didn't have one to try.

  • Great for me

the right tool for the job

This tool is suitable for removing standard chain pins. The problem is the bolt design is terrible. One screw is for the hex wrench, and the matching inner screw is what you need this tool for. The inner bolt has 2 small, shallow grooves that this tool goes into. It's like the bolt is designed so any tool can slip out and send your fingers into the ring of the chain to grind. My recommendation is to take this tool to remove your screws. and replace them with double ended hex screws like Wolf…

Bad design, bad execution.

As others have pointed out, this particular tool doesn't feel very good. It's stamped metal, nothing more substantial. Not for at home, let alone for shopping. I cut off one of the teeth trying to loosen the five bolts on my crank. I ended up removing three bolts and drilling through the rest. Do yourself a favor and buy hex or sprocket bolts on the bolt and nut and forget about this tool and the problem it's trying to solve. in general. If you're determined to use slotted nuts, I've seen a…
