This is an essential piece of protective equipment for any watercraft and this product works particularly well and is quick in critical situations.

I purchased this item but the pump is so difficult to use that it would be impossible to pump your boat. The seals need more lubrication or something.

This is a must have accessory when paddling down rapids to help clear water out of your skirt. If your kayak is deep, you will need to purchase an extension hose. There has to be a way to connect to the boat.

Brought this on a river trip on my small aluminum boat. At one point I had a severe leak and I didn't realize how bad it was until I started the engine. I had about 10 gallons of water at my feet! I used this to clean it and found the hole which I patched with a plumber's puddle. Very light and moves a huge amount of water. There is a place for a hose but it is not included in the kit. Otherwise it will only spit near the handle. Good product!

Overall I am satisfied with this hand pump. However, this could be improved if 1) the splined outlet OD was made thinner to fit the 1" ID splined pond hose. I found it very difficult to connect the 1 inch ID pond hose to the pump outlet. 2) The suction of this pump is easy to suck in small objects along with water, which causes problems in this pump. The inlet must have a screen to filter out anything but water.

Excellent hand shovel for my small boat. I checked - there is more water being sucked into a pump than I expected. It's nice to have that kind of security in a boat. I hope it's never needed. Looks very good. The suction pump is easy to use. Pumps a good amount of water to the pump. I added a 3 foot piece of hose at the outlet to make it easier to direct excess water to the gunwale of my small boat.

This bilge pump worked fine for about the first 2 months, rising and falling smoothly. Now I can barely move the handle if I pull as hard as I can. Now it's useless. I've already passed the return window, but I'm going to contact Pelican with the issue and hope to get a replacement. I'll update this review with a solution when I get one, but beware that bilge pump for now.
