Petsafe is a good company to work with.

I bought this product because I have a rag doll that I don't want to walk around outside. I have 2 other cats and 2 small dogs that can go outside. After installing the door, we spoke to customer service because we couldn't figure out how to keep the cat from coming out. The pet safe was very helpful. We learned that this door should keep the creatures out, not the entrance.

    Don't scare away raccoons!

I like the idea of this door. I love that my cats can get in and out, but that keeps neighborhood cats or other critters away. Unfortunately it only closes one way so the raccoons can still get in! It also took me a heck of a lot of time to find a tag that would work with it. I ended up buying real injectable microchips, putting them in a cat bell on a collar and sealing them with hot glue. Luckily that works. I just want it to keep the raccoons away.

Didn't work for me but might work for you.

PetSafe Microchip Cat Door worked when I programmed it, tested it on cats before installation, but didn't work after wall installation. The wall is aluminum, so the manufacturer suggested using an installation adapter and cutting the metal further away from the opening; it still didn't work. I ordered a replacement in case the first one was defective, but the replacement didn't work either. I sent the replacement back and after almost 30 days I have not received a refund, the problem with…

    Great Security Pet Door

We are very pleased with this pet door. We actually had to re-chip our cat as the one she had wasn't communicating with the door sensor. After we did that, the door worked as it should. Our cat is wild and was afraid of the sensor; I spent about 15 minutes teaching her how to walk through the door and then she mastered it. We value electronic security as we have cats in the neighborhood who love to bully our cat and steal her food; this solved that problem without us having to complain or evict

My cat is microchipped so it will be perfect. I forgot that I needed 2 extension sleeves, but I ordered them. We are waiting for an electrician as the installation site requires replacement wiring. Since 121419 the door has finally been installed. My only issue was that when ordering 2 hub extensions, no more screws were sent. The original door was designed for 4" thick walls, and my walls are 6" thick. That's why I needed 2 sleeves. So the first screws weren't long enough. Additional screws…

Controls access to your home, porch, anywhere

Benefits:1. It's not loud. We have seven cats and no one is afraid of them.2. The design appears to be safe for cats. 3. The manual locking mechanism works very easily. Cons: 1. It has gone astray twice in the last year (the red light is flashing). You take out the batteries to reset it. I've tried twice, with two different dead battery periods, to no avail. My daughter tried this later and it restarted. growl. The first time it failed, it fell off easily.2. The tunnel is deep and small. The…

This cat flap makes a loud, repetitive, annoying click each time the button is pressed or pushed back up, blocking the movement of the cat flap. When the cats sit next to him, their microchip will trigger the button, and he will press and rise again continuously and loudly. This sound seems to startle the cats enough that they can't get through the valve, but not enough to scare them away, so they just stick their head in the valve and let it click over and over again. It's very annoying and a…

UPDATE: 4 months later, raccoons keep breaking in!

**UPDATE 4 months later*** So much for raccoon protection! I saw with my own eyes how they broke down the door, ransacked our porch and terrorized the cats. Now I need to buy another door that reads microchips both ways so raccoons can't just lift the door with their tiny claws. I didn't know when I bought this IC door that it only reads ICs in one direction, it's not clear in the description. Another technique that will end up in a landfill. What a waste. * It took our indoor and outdoor cats…
