🛢️ POR-15 Fuel Tank Quart Review

I bought a 1 liter can of this sealant. Follow the instructions carefully. I bought the tank cleaner and cleaner/rust remover locally as they were a lot cheaper. The product was enough to put 2 coats on my 13 gallon Allis B tank. It does a fantastic job. The tank sounds much more solid and doesn't leak from the moment of application. This is a much better product than some of the others on offer. Less messy and certainly not as stinky as those that appear to be based on fiberglass resin. It…

Bought a New Holland gas engine model and found the gas tank built into the cast iron base was badly rusted and clogged. I poured pure hydrochloric acid for an hour and washed with HD washing machine. Clean as new. I ordered a quart of POR-15 sealant to have a reserve for future projects. The can says to empty the whole can and throw it away when you're done. I didn't want to waste the whole liter so I poured some into an empty 4 ounce paint can and poured it into the tank. Seemed to work fine.

We recently purchased this product to seal the gas tank on a 1970 Chevy pickup. This truck has been standing for a long time. So let me warn you that I'm one of those people who doesn't always follow the rules exactly. I sealed two 5 gallon fuel tanks from an SUV that were leaking at the bottom seams. I first cleaned them of internal rust by inserting a handful of small screws into the tanks and shaking them for a while to knock off the loose rust. Good work. I then degreased them with a strong commercial degreaser. I then soaked them in muriatic acid for several hours to remove most of the remaining surface rust. I…
