47861 Powermaster Alternator Review

Excellent product. Would have given 5 stars apart from two things regarding the + output jack. I think it would be better if it was a hairpin and not a pole with a small hole sealed with tape. The placement should be in the upper half. As with the Small Block Chevy, the gap to the stock valve cover is only about 3/16 (newer serpentine belt accessory). After the market valve covers, it doesn't become clear at all. I ended up making a mount to get clearance. Otherwise it works great.

If you have some electrical attachments this will work great! I added fog lights and a sound system and with the stock alternator idling it lowered the battery voltage. But with this higher effort alternator from Powermasters my voltage stays above 14. The alternator needs readjustment if you have tall valve covers or if you have a rear mounting plate that connects to the exhaust manifold (5.7 engine). Insufficient direct mount for my application (93' K1500 5.7L), I had to 'reset' the housing (E8 1/4" drive socket and pulley removal requires a 1/2" 24mm wall thickness drive socket + 1/2" drive impact wrench). THIS IS GREAT! When I bought these I had a third "standard" alternator. Sometimes when stopping at a traffic light or stop sign, I could find that my headlights were dimmed due to lack of power. After I installed this alternator, even my wife says she sees no change in the idle/stop lights. Follow the instructions and use a thicker battery cable than the original. Okay many reviews say it needs to be synced but I didn't need to do that for the GM 4.3 accessory mount x early 90's , it worked fine. also a few reports of it running in "hot idle". So far the hottest day since I've had the generator has been 88 degrees (not too hot) and I've had no problems, this generator also handles a huge load x2 electric fans x2 water pumps for the RV and a full 1000 watt stereo with subwoofers I also had the wipers, AC and fan motors turned on along with all the lights,
