good, strong cup of tea

Something about the taste and sound of a coffee maker. Haven't used it in years and drank a lot of perchlorethylene on vacation. Bought when I got home. Works best without a filter - set the grind level properly and get used to the light grind at the bottom of the cup. Hitting the bottom of the sink with the basket is usually used to clean the tiny holes of stuck coffee. I add some ice to the water before brewing to make the coffee stronger (grinding cycles are longer as it doesn't stop heating

Not 100% stainless steel, contains aluminum parts in the tank.

This was my first coffee maker (first bought in December 2012) and it worked great until it broke in December 2016. The reason I bought this unit again was the initial criticisms of the lack of aluminum. in the bathroom. The second came with an aluminum nut on the bottom of the tank, I didn't like it but there was no choice and I decided to run with it. It now makes loud noises to keep the coffee hot, so based on past experience I decided to buy another unit (not from this brand) as a backup in

If you're like me and love coffee, why should we be in such a hurry?

If you like coffee like me, then why bother rushing into something we enjoy so much. I'd had enough of automatic filter coffee, used different brands over the years and although it was ready when I woke up in the morning I didn't enjoy the first sip. Dissatisfied with my lukewarm cup of coffee, I decided to go back to the old days when it took time to brew coffee. To my surprise, the Presto 12 Cup did just that. I loved hearing about this coffee maker and to my delight it was the hot cup of…

Makes a coffee snob happy

I enjoy coffee, the whole process of making coffee. Over the years I've tried pretty much every brewing method, from French press to drip and Turkish. When the last dripper we had (I think it was our fourth in 10 years) gave us the last drop, I happily put the Chinese plastic to good use and tried again to find a suitable coffee maker. Presto makes delicious coffee. I've experimented with different grinds and found one that's slightly coarser than the regular drip grind, but not as coarse as a…

It's not your main percolator and it's not very good.

After trying to make a cup of coffee and terrible customer service at Presto. I went back to a stove top coffee maker (8 cup Faberware Yosemite). The Presto block is very finicky during the brew cycle. Soil (any size) clogs the basket easily, and if you choose to use paper filters, the problem will only get worse. Electric percolators have a central superheating element with a recess (heating well) for heating a small amount of water. fast and hot enough to go up the perc tube. The…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Something is wrong

I bought the exact same coffee maker about ten years ago and made the mistake of advising someone to wash it with dish soap and run a cleaning cycle. This damaged the metal part underneath where the percolator spindle rests and the metal started to chip off in the coffee. I stopped using it because I was afraid of getting poisoned and figured that at some point I would try to find parts to replace this part. Eventually I broke down and just bought another pot. It's the exact same pot I had…

Tips for a really great cup of coffee.

This coffee maker has been in my family for 6 years, it was purchased here at Revain in 2010 and I am in the process of buying another one for work. better than any restaurant we visit, better than coffee with friends and family. just unbelievable, unbelievably good. I've had a few minor maintenance issues over the years (see below) but these were overcome very easily and overall it was a super reliable and very good value instrument. Honestly, this has to be one of my all-time favorite home…
