A piece of steel. does the job.

I replaced two locking plates that only had two screws each with this one that both locked with nine screws. I used 4" screws from a hardware store as the reviews here suggested they might not be very good quality. (although mine looked fine). I also replaced the hinge screws on my door with over 4" screws because they only used 3/4" screws, which was a joke. If you purchase this panel to reinforce your door, please also replace the hinge screws, otherwise the frame will fail and the entire…

You can't afford not to use it.

I bought this after my neighbor kicked in his garage door and he wanted to upgrade it before I became a victim. I didn't realize how little security (read zero security) my latch offered until I started installing this product. Installation took about 30 minutes as I had to dig a recess for this larger unit. After the desired notch was cut, it was quickly assembled. I highly recommend using an impact wrench as the included bolts are 3 inches (or longer) and you can fatigue or snap them off with

Ideal for repairs

I had to use this on a door that had been 'modified' many times by people who just messed up the alignment of the strike plates for the handle and latch. There were so many holes drilled and screwed that I couldn't line up the new panels. This plate gave me the opportunity to place the screws in an entirely new location. There is also enough clearance to close, snap and latch everything very easily. I highly recommend this item. I plan to order a few extras to have on hand. @ my local home…

Robust: door hardware and locks

I bought three of these to secure the door latch. These things are heavy. I put it in a dummy door and tried to break the door frame and it wouldn't budge no matter how hard I tried. They are great for extra door security. I feel safe knowing they are on all my doors. I live in an area where home invasions are common so I definitely needed this to stay safe. The screws that come with it are junk. DO NOT USE THEM. Instead, buy long 3/16" x 3-1/4" concrete anchor bolts. These are heavy duty bolts

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • No automation

Good product but don't use the screw that comes with it

Mounted on the door that leads to our garage. I was able to install it on top of the frame instead of creating a groove to fit the space. The downside to this is that the original frame holes are significantly smaller. The screw sizes match exactly and you can see them through the very large holes in this strike plate. I don't know why the manufacturer made the holes so big. There may be another model with standard size slots but I haven't found it. The screws that come with it are a joke. The…
