If you receive the stand with the legs already attached, you will notice that when the legs are lowered, the stand tilts sideways instead of vertically. This is because one foot is on the opposite side and the stand is actually facing backwards. This was done on purpose to make it more compact when folded for packing. Like other reviewers, my stand was not assembled properly as the legs were attached at the back, presumably to fit in the shipping carton. Luckily it was a 5 minute fix. What you can't fix is a poorly designed tension adjustment that keeps the gripper arm attached to the extension tube (horizontal/vertical connection at top of post).
