Great lighter for the worker

My fiancee loves this lighter very much. It has been dropped a few times and has practically no scratches. This is his daily lighter. Charging takes some time. The latch is firm but easy to remove. The disadvantage is that the lighter slips out of the body.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Good as a survival bag

Makes fire. You have to get your hands very close to what you want to ignite. I prefer their longer versions. USB charging works great. The battery lasts a long time. It's about the size of an old Zippo lighter, but I doubt it can easily light a crab stick. This lighter is better for your rescue bag or when you need to kindle when camping. Hardly to recommend.

Stopped working after a week

I used this mainly for cigars - charged when I got it worked great for about a week. I've noticed that it doesn't work very well in cold weather, but other than that, no complaints. Until I wanted to charge it again, about 30 minutes, and then suddenly it stopped working. I've tried many charges, tried to charge longer - the charging light is on, but nothing. Absolutely useless thing. will return

Illuminates nothing thicker than a pencil lead.

I bought it for emergencies and camping. Of course I want to be able to make a fire. I'm still a big kid, so I was trying to make things glow almost as soon as I got it. It will be light paper, thin cardboard, maybe a wick. Anything larger (a piece of wood twice the size of a pencil lead, an intact strip of cardboard) will burn, maybe even burn in the plasma jets, but won't actually ignite. It's practically useless for my purposes. A $1 bic would be more useful.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Not sure

The quality of the included tip and the branding on the outside are the only complaints I have. Luckily, the split ring keychain fits perfectly through the lanyard hole. I took it a step further and wrapped mine in a beeswax coated hemp wick so I always had some tinder along with the arc generation. Hopefully it will hold up over time - and even if the battery it was built with wears out, hopefully in decades I can salvage the circuitry to pair with a new battery.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Not bad

Great - accept it can burn your house down

I really like this little thing and want to be happy with it but I've caught it a few times, at first I thought I heard things. When plugged in and charged, it will trigger randomly for a good 30 seconds at a time for no reason. Because the charging port is under a cover, it must be left open while charging, meaning anything flammable around it could ignite and eventually start a house fire. Due to obvious safety concerns I have to stop using it and give it 1 star. It wasn't an accident, I was…

Almost Perfect: Homeware

I have purchased both versions of the arc lighter available on this list. At first I just bought an arc lighter. It has no external buttons. It's good to know that you don't accidentally turn it on while it's closed and in your pocket or purse. I also bought a flashlight along with an arc lighter. The main reason I bought this one is that I think the arc lighter design is better. The probes on this one face outwards and could easily be shoved into something to set it on fire. My main issue with

I can't fault this lighter

I really wanted to hate this lighter. I'm more of a light purist. I don't smoke, but the need to have a fire source is ingrained in my ancestry and rural upbringing. I always had a kind of lighter with me. For years it was Zippo or Xikar, high rise (my dying ass). I diligently refilled it every few days as the fuel evaporated, only to overfill and it leaked into my pocket. Or they would find it impossible to fire because the triple fuel ratio is incompatible with altitude changes. I was ready…
