Poor adjustment tolerances

The cap does not match the seat on the iron handle. The wing nuts are machined unevenly and the threaded rods are adjusted unevenly, resulting in blade misalignment. The neck is too wide, leaving extra room on each side of the blade. The blade tends to move after adjustment. The cast iron body and cover are solid though, just poor milling resistance of the components. Better quality expected from Irwin/Record.

However, when I received it, besides the convex bottom, I found that instruments of such low quality could not be made in England. The quality is on the bottom and I found I could buy the same poor quality tools made in China for less than half the price I paid for them! One had a very large throat, which might make sense as a mod, but it shouldn't. Then I realized that the knife bed is so narrow that it cannot be adjusted sideways. It took 20 minutes of filing on the sides to fix it. The other razor looked fine until I discovered that one of the blade adjustment nuts had stripped off and…
