🚚 Reese Towpower Trailer Hitch Class IV, 2 in. Receiver for Dodge Ram 1500 Review

One of the carriage bolt spacers was the wrong size, the bolt wouldn't go through. Spent an hour or more sawing a hole for the screw to fit. I probably had to try to find the right one, but time was of the essence. All hardware packages were unopened, so I have to assume that quality control is not a high priority at Reese.

Easy to install and a perfect fit. The Reese tow bar includes a decorative plug to cover the hole in the bumper making it look really nice. The wire used to catch the bolt and back in the frame is original and works very well. I had to lower the spare tire to get clearance, but I'm glad I practiced that before having to do it on the side of the road. under rain. ;-)

Hard to judge as part #3 is missing which is a 3/4-10 GR5 nut. Went to Lowe's and bought a 3/4-10 GR5 nut as it was only a dollar. I went ahead and started assembling everything and found that the standard 3/4-10 GR5 nut was not included in the hex on the hitch. There must be a specialized mother. Counting. So if you're missing a part, don't think you can just replace it.

Needed a hand adjustment as a hole was a bit out of order. I believe it was cut with a plasma torch as one hole was not perfectly round. But hey, that's what Dremels are for. I didn't remove the coupler to expose the hole since I already had the plates in the pipe. Therefore, to be on the safe side, check whether you have screwed in the screws before screwing anything in. Perfect for my 2008 RAM 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab with 6 foot bed. It's a little tricky getting smaller screws into the frame, but take your time and wiggle the cord if it gets caught around corners. If you try to force it you risk losing the bolt in the frame and then you don't have to work to get it out again. All in all it took me about 30 minutes to complete the installation. This coupler is easy to install, you will need a 1⅛ head and a 3/4 socket, in reality you will probably need a torque wrench.
