Enhanced Air Vent Car Mount Pedestal: Arkon Replacement or Upgrade with Dual T Pattern Compatibility Review

AFTER SEVERAL ORDERS AND RETURNS THIS ITEM IS WORKING. IT IS FRAGILE AND WE HAVE MADE SOME COSMETIC CHANGES TO FIT MY GPS.

Not what I expected. It doesn't go well with my Jeep Cherokee Latitude. Holds cell phone great but needs tweaking for air conditioning.

I bought this air vent mount because it works with the Motorola Atrix Car Dock (same size sphere) and works very well. You need to be fairly stable when docking and unplugging your phone from the dock as there are some limitations to the mount's versatility from a technical point of view. But once it's there, it works surprisingly well and is stable. An exceptional feature is that it really helps cool down the phone which gets quite hot when used in GPS and other modes.

I like the purpose but the clips are very cheap and don't hold up very well. It's flimsy, and because of the Florida heat, the clips will spread out after just a few days in a hot car. disappointing! I will try to modify with metal alligator clips.

I like the mount for my Magellan GPS. This keeps it out of the window area. Much cheaper location. Instructions were not given - I had to fly. I just wish I could tighten the adjustable angle better - it tends to shift slightly. Overall I would recommend it.

I was looking for a way to mount the GPS on the dashboard (not the windshield) without gluing anything. I figured this vent mount might work if attached to the top (fixed) vent louvers of my Saturn Aura. This worked really well for this, with two small caveats: 1. I had to remove the underside of the "footboard" on this mount because my vents are placed so steeply that this little brace didn't do anything in my situation and - even on the mounting case folded - actually caused the bleed clamps…
