Description of Robinair 10596 Dial Thermometer 160°F

Robinair Pocket Dial Thermometer. Perfect for checking automotive, home, or commercial A/C performance at the vent. 1 inch dial face reads -40 to +160 degrees F. Convenient pocket-clip carrying case protects the thermometer when not in use but keeps it handy for easy access when you need it. Adjustable design ensures accuracy - simply twist thermometer face to known temperature (32F ice water works well) while holding 10 mm nut on base with a wrench.

Overpriced junk: thermometer

The first one I ordered didn't show temperatures below 80 degrees. The second has an accuracy of only 10-15 degrees. This is not a typical Robinair quality product. Instead, you get a ridiculously overpriced piece of junk that says Robinair. DO NOT BUY THIS

Pros
  • Shipping was very fast
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Exactly, but the magnifying glass is disappointing.

Exactly out of the box but harder to read with a magnifying glass - thought it would help compared to the old model without a magnifying glass. You need to find the right angle so you're not looking directly at the detail between the 5 degree marks. Difficult when it needs to be plugged into the dashboard air vents and observed while charging or later checking.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Doubtful

Don't waste it and it will last you a lifetime.

You can't go wrong with Robinair. This is my second Robinair thermometer. The one I bought in 1985 (no kidding) was still accurate, clear and easy to read, but it's gone and probably gone. The only thing that limits this person's lifespan is my lifespan, as expecting me to live another 35 years is unreasonably optimistic. So come on Get a good one with a good brand, it's not that expensive. :)

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

The thermometer was broken when I received it.

I don't like writing bad reviews, but in this case I have to say so. When I received the thermometer, it was well packaged and shrink-wrapped in the factory. He showed no damage. I tried to check the calibration by putting the tube in a bath of ice water. The needle is not calibrated to 32 degrees. In fact, it was 8 degrees above normal! As the needle moved, there was a moment where it would jam, stop, and then jump to higher or lower readings with repeated taps. I decided to return to Revain…

  • Easy setup

  • There are nuances

Total waste of money - see my update.

Thermometer deflected 8 degrees. I tested this on two other thermometers that are extremely accurate (and expensive) and also on a laser thermometer. All 3 test thermometers were within 1/2 degree of each other. waste of money. Updating the review for the following reasons: I don't know why the manufacturer doesn't indicate that the thermometer can be adjusted. There is a hex nut behind the dial. I grabbed the nut with pliers and slightly rotated the dial. It's not that easy (the dial fits…
