Good but more than expected.

The grain is much larger than expected. I would like a better description. The grains are similar in size to cornmeal and smaller than processed white sugar. However, they have been working on my pool deck project.

Gradually mix!

I mixed it with the paint I painted the porch with. I live in the Northeast US and this has worked well after winter snow, ice and rain. Just mix it well with the paint so it doesn't stick together in one place.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Worked well for me: Paint Additives

Mixed with exterior house paint to cover the handicap ramp for my mom to raise and lower. Excellent traction. It was used for about two months with no loss of sand or traction. I assume this will take several years.

Great alternative to expensive anti skid kits

I added Skid-Tex to the acrylic latex paint I used to paint our back steps to our house. There is little sun in this part of the house, so having a durable non-slip surface on the wooden steps is very important. I used the prescribed amount which provided a great surface on the steps to avoid slipping, especially during the cold and rainy winter months.

Stair Slip Protection

I have used this product on an epoxy grout in a garage floor. While I didn't want non-slip flooring in the garage, I did want it on the steps leading from the garage into the house. The tub is filled with what appears to be very fine, dry sand. The way I applied was a little different from what was recommended. I simply painted the wooden steps with rustoleum epoxy and then applied them with my fingers like salt in a recipe. I would suggest following the directions if looks are important to…

Difficult to hold up in paint sludge

This has worked well for adding grit to the paint I have applied to my scaffolding boards. However, it is very difficult to keep it in limbo, even though I mixed it well and adjusted it as recommended. I had to stir it between each brush bath to make sure I had enough paint to apply. And after covering the board I still had plenty of it at the bottom of the container. Small things have a big impact. If I use it again I'll try a different application method - maybe apply a lacquer/paint mix and…

Good but not for dog agility gear

This is the best value product for texture paint but it wasn't enough for my dog agility gear. The texture is better suited to making things like steps less slippery for people. Dog agility gear needs a much more realistic grip texture, so I'd just buy a sandbag. I first painted my gear with SkidTex added to the exterior paint and it did what it said but certainly not enough for a dog to walk on an A frame. So after laying each of the two pieces of the A-frame flat, I applied a second coat by…

Worked great with epoxy floor paint

I tried the sand that comes with epoxy floor paints and didn't like the result. He left the paint with a sandpaper texture and matte finish; it would make mopping a nightmare as the dirt would get so stuck between all those millions of ultra-fine sand particles that mops couldn't remove it. Sand particles, but larger and more non-slip. Then I found and tried this Skid-tex Rust-Oleum 22242. I mixed one of the 1 pound buckets with 2 gallons of epoxy. The finish has turned out great and I now have
