Best VR Headset for PC (IMO)

I'm a huge VR fan and have been following the industry since 2015. I already had a high end PC so I could have bought a Rift or Vive when they came out, but I figured I'd wait a year or two to improve the tech. I'm glad I waited because the Samsung Odysessy+ is a better and cheaper VR headset than these two. And since it works with SteamVR, almost all Rift/Vive games will work with Odysessy+. But the two main reasons I like this head seat over others are 1. higher resolution 2. no need to useโ€ฆ

Completely satisfied

Wow! I'm really excited about this headset. 100% satisfied with my purchase. I checked out the Vibe Pro but didn't want to spend $1,300. I was up and running 10 minutes after taking the Samsung out of the box on Windows 10. No sign of the screen door effect, but you've heard of VR headsets. Virtual reality is very fluid. All you have to do is put on your VR headset and in a few seconds you are in a "virtual home" navigating through your VR apps. I have rooms to watch HDHomeRun TV, Netflix andโ€ฆ

It was almost as good as I expected

The very first thing I did with this headset, even before I plugged it in, was the comfort and light transmission testing. The device fits comfortably on my head, but I had some bleeding from the sides and nose. Since the liner only attaches with Velcro, I removed it and adjusted the liner so the bottom edges just touch the nose flaps. This simple thing eliminated all light leaks from the bottom and sides. I put on my headset (still unplugged) and found myself in complete darkness. That wasโ€ฆ

  • nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

I bought this a few weeks ago during a $299 sale. Overall, there are notable improvements over the first-gen HMD Odyssey in terms of tracking and image quality. It's still a bit tight if you wear glasses, but I'm looking at some 3D printing solutions that I'll try soon. As for the screen-door effect, yes, it is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. I wouldn't say it's gone completely, it's definitely still there, but you'll have to seek and seek for it. I've decided to use my Oculus to play games and use itโ€ฆ

Fantastic alternative to Vive Pro

First of all, the screens on this thing are just beautiful. 3.5-inch OLED panels with the same resolution as the Vive Pro (HTC contracts with Samsung and uses the same panels). The optics are amazing. Anti-SDE - This thing is a game changer. SDE drove me crazy on my old HTC Vive. Samsung built the HMD with technology specifically to combat SDE, and that makes a big difference. SDE hasn't completely disappeared, but it's much less noticeable. In fact, the only downsides to the Odyssey+ are theโ€ฆ

  • About

At first I was disappointed when I said that it was a plain thin white box that it came in. Yes, it's just a box, but the Rift and Vive looked better. The cheap shiny plastic they put on the front is a mistake and doesn't fill in like it costs $500. If you choose to do so, the two main reasons for a return could be how cheap everything fills and the worst fit of any VR headset. I have a decent head so I hoped I would get lucky but no it wasn't a case. It bleeds slightly everywhere but worst inโ€ฆ

An excellent technology demonstration, but not perfected.

If you haven't played or watched videos in VR, WMR or any other immersive device, prepare to be amazed. This type of immersion is unlike anything you've likely experienced before. You will feel like you are there and you will be able to interact with the world around you. It's not hard to imagine that with improved field of view, enhanced resolution, and tactile/force feedback, it's easy to forget you're in a "virtual" world. That all sounds great, unfortunately for the Odyssey+ there are a few
