Love it: Hardware

Didn't know what to look for in the mailbox but this one seemed pretty good as I had brushes inside for weather protection. Although it was a bit more expensive than some of the other options, I decided to give it a try. I'm very happy with the design and materials and it was pretty easy to install.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Mailbox for the wall.

I hope the postman isn't annoyed. We had a storage box but needed a gap in the wall as we have a glass door. Two identical parts, one inside, one outside. My son cut through the wall and lined the hole with a patch. Vinyl siding on the outside, plaster on the inside. As someone else said, fragile mail (like a cardboard flyer) probably won't get through as the doors are fairly tightly locked. Let's see how it holds up over time. The exterior is very pretty and looks great on my interior wall.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

CRL Mail Slot - Door Hardware & Locks

I was very happy to finally find a taller mail slot that has spring or magnetic tension to stay closed. The whole product is intended and sold for glass shops, I have used it for a through wall mailbox and for an old house. The positive thing is that it closes very well by itself. On the negative side, if the frame itself, screwed or attached to the wall, was even slightly bent, the door would not shoot and hold the seal. It is difficult to find a perfectly flat surface and an old house. As…

Blocks hot/cold air very well, crumples flimsy mail, will buy again

Our 1940's house had a built in mail slot in the outside wall. It was nice that the postman could take the mail outside and the mail fell into a box in the house, but it let in a lot of cold air in the winter and warmth in the summer. We have renovated and would like the same facility without hot/cold air. That's all. This highly durable piece is designed to fit a typical front door, which is thinner than a typical exterior wall. We wanted it to be installed in an outside wall. So that the post

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • No machine

Very happy with this mail slot. We suspected someone was stealing our emails, so we had to use a more secure setting. Decided to use a mailbox on our front door to deliver mail to our home, away from the sticky fingers of would-be thieves. a lot of money with heating and cooling in the long run. This slot is very well designed to block drafts. Spring loaded valves close the valve on a rubber seal and brushes underneath. This is the same for both slots, so you really get four levels of draft…

  • Sturdy construction
